2009 Dodge Caliber Hatchback Review from Edmunds.com

Overall Rating

What Edmunds.com says...

The 2009 Dodge Caliber is versatile and has some unique features, but a low-quality cabin and underwhelming performance keep this model near the bottom of the small-wagon/hatchback list.

Pros

Versatile interior, wide range of engine choices, high safety scores.

Cons

Sluggish acceleration from CVT-equipped models, low-quality interior materials, unimpressive build quality.

What's new

For 2009, the Dodge Caliber receives only minor changes. Most significant is the availability of new hard-drive-based music and navigation systems. The Caliber also gains added sound insulation to help reduce road noise. Finally, all-wheel drive, previously available for the R/T trim level, has been dropped completely.

Highs

Good interior space, air-conditioned glove box, available all-wheel drive, integrated telematics including real-time traffic information.

Lows

Vague steering, heavy ride, slow with the base engine, but acoustic package deadens noise.

What's New: Introduced for 2007; new goodies include UConnect GPS, nav, and music suite.
