7 Television Commercials

Jonathan Glazer is an English director of commercials and music videos, sometimes of films. After studying theatre design at Nottingham Trent University, Glazer started out directing theatre and making film and television trailers, including award-winning work for the BBC. In 1993 he wrote and... directed three short films of his own , and joined Academy Commercials. He has directed popular campaigns for Guinness and Stella Artois . Since the mid-1990s he has directed a number of music videos, and was named MTV Director of the Year 1997. His work in these areas is often noted for its originality. In 2000, he directed the gangster film Sexy Beast, starring Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley. In 2001 Glazer directed the "Odyssey" spot for Levi Strauss Jeans. In 2006 Glazer directed the second Sony BRAVIA TV advertisement, which took 10 days and 250 people to film. It was filmed at an estate in Glasgow, and featured paint exploding all over the tower blocks. Later the same year he was commissioned to make a television advert for the new Motorola Red phone.

Grant Gee is a film director and cinematographer currently living in Brighton. He was born in Plymouth and studied Geography at St Catherine's College, Oxford. He is most noted for his documentary about the British alternative rock group Radiohead, Meeting People Is Easy , which followed the band... on their tour for their highly acclaimed third album, OK Computer . In the early 1990s he had worked on U2's Zoo TV and Zoo Radio, and collaborated with Mark Neale on several projects , including "The Memory Palace", an experimental multi-media project combining film and live performance for the Expo '92. In 1996 he directed a twenty-seven minute short film commissioned by progressive house band Spooky for parts of their album "Found Sound" . The film was displayed on a continuous loop outside the Centre Georges Pompidou as part of its re-opening. In 2000 he filmed the entirety of the Meltdown festival, curated that year by Scott Walker.

Magnus Carlsson, born April 20, 1965, a Swedish director, illustrator and animator. Carlsson is one of Sweden's best known and most active illustrators. He started with professional animation in 1988 and has since created a series of animated films and television series. Among other things, he has... created The Three Friends and Jerry, which has been distributed to over 100 countries. Another very familiar animation that Magnus has done is the band Radiohead's video for the song Paranoid Android, for which he was nominated for a number of MTV Video Music Awards. Carlsson has also made the stop-motion animated feature film Desmond & Swamp Barbarian trap which premiered 19 November 2006. Carlson is the author of a number of animated television series with international distribution and has been shown on TV channels such as MTV, Fox, HBO, Chanel 4, Nickelodeon, SVT, etc.. Carlsson is also working with advertising and art projects.

Jake Scott is a British film director who works primarily in the field of music videos. Most of his works were produced under the Ridley Scott Associates banner or RSA's music video subdivision Black Dog Films. He has made videos for Soundgarden, The Smashing Pumpkins, Bush, Live, Blind Melon,... Tori Amos, Tricky, Radiohead, Lily Allen, Oasis, The Supernaturals, The Strokes, The Verve, R.E.M., U2, and George Michael. He has also made two feature films, Plunkett & Macleane and Welcome to the Rileys . He is the son of director and RSA owner Ridley Scott, the nephew of director Tony Scott and brother of director Jordan Scott.

Jamie Thraves is a British film writer and director. Jamie Thraves began making early short experimental films in 1989 at Hull University, having previously studied illustration . His graduation film Scratch and The Take-Out both went on to win numerous awards at short film festivals worldwide.... He joined the Royal College Of Art in 1993 where he made another award winning film, The Hackney Downs . After leaving the RCA he joined Oil Factory, a music video company, making his breakthrough video for Radiohead for their song "Just" where a man lies on the pavement and is confronted by an angry crowd, this video garnered Thraves a lot of attention for its strong narrative structure and use of subtitles, what the man says to make the crowd lie down at the end of the video still manages to cause great discussion amongst fans some fifteen years later. Thraves made one more short film I Just Want To Kiss You , starring Martin Freeman which won the Fox Searchlight Award for Best Short Film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 1998.
