About a Boy is a 1998 novel by British writer Nick Hornby. It was adapted into a film of the same name in 2002. The novel is about Will Freeman, a 36-year-old bachelor, and Marcus, an introverted, bullied 12-year-old who lives alone with his suicidal mother, Fiona.
