Adana

Yılmaz Güney, was a Kurdish film director, scenarist, novelist and actor from Turkey. Many of his works are devoted to the plight of... ordinary, working class people in Turkey. Yılmaz Güney was born in 1937 in the Yenice county of Adana. His father was a Zaza from Siverek, and his mother was a Kurmanci-Kurd from Varto, Turkey. His parents migrated to Adana to work as cotton field laborers. As a result of his family background young Yılmaz grew among the working class poor, which formed a strong background for his future works which generally focused on a realistic portrayal of down and out people in Turkey. Güney studied law and economics at the universities in Ankara and Istanbul, but by the age of 21 he found himself actively involved in film-making. As Yeşilçam, the Turkish studio system, grew in strength, a handful of directors, including Atıf Yılmaz, began to use the cinema as a means of addressing the problems of the people.

Ferdi Tayfur is a Turkish arabesque singer, actor and composer. In recent years, he has also become popular in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Trinidad and... Tobago, Syria and Iran. He achieved estimated sales of over 50-60 million records worldwide. He was born in Hurriyet neighbourhood of Adana, Turkey and he has led a successful career in arabesque music. Being successful in his arabesque career he has been announced as the King of Arabesque, a music type very popular in today's Turkey and the middle east. His father, Cumali, who was a big fan of a famous theater and dubbing actor "Ferdi Tayfur" named his youngest son after him. After his father was killed, he was not able to continue his education because he had to work in the cotton fields of Cukurova to support his family. Ferdi Tayfur went to Istanbul when he was 17 with dreams of becoming a famous singer. He was not able to succeed on doing this and so he returned to Adana after a short stay in Istanbul. He came back to Istanbul in the early 1970s and his constant attempts to become a singer finally started to pay off.

Demir Demirkan is a Turkish musician, Eurovision Song Contest winning composer, formerly guitarist for thrash metal band Mezarkabul. Demir Demirkan... started his music life when he was 13 and played guitar with various groups in college. Demir Demirkan also wrote television jingles and composed soundtracks for television and films. Demir Demirkan started his music life when he was 13 and played guitar with various groups in college. In 1990, Demir joined a heavy/rock group, Mezarkabul, based in Istanbul and wrote and played guitar in the group’s second album, Trail Blazer. In 1992, he moved to Los Angeles where he studied with and Scott Henderson, Frank Gambale and Paul Hanson who founded the MI-Musician’s Institute. In 1996, he moved back to Istanbul and worked as a producer, guitarist and composer for various artists such as Sebnem Ferah and Sertab Erener. Demir rejoined Mezarkabul again in 1997 and recorded the Anatolia album. Demirkan played his first guitar at age 13, and attained national stardom in 1990 when he joined the Istanbul heavy rock group Mezarkabul as songwriter and guitarist.

Feridun Düzağaç is a Turkish rock music singer and songwriter, usually known for his pessimistic and melancholic songs. Feridun... Düzağaç started his music career by forming a band called "TINI" in Mersin while studying in university. This band was formed in 1988 and Feridun Düzağaç was the vocalist of this band consisting five musicians. Other members of the band were Feridun Düzağaç's schoolmates. The first song that Feridun Düzağaç wrote was "Lavinia" which was a poem originally written by famous Turkish poet Özdemir Asaf. In 1990 Feridun Düzağaç and his 13 schoolmates wrote a book called "İlk Rüzgar" which contained many poems. In 1992 he graduated from the university. In November 1994 he released a demo album called "Öğrenci İndirimi" which contained songs that he performed when he was studying in university. In January 1997 he released his debut official album called "Beni Rahatta Dinleyin" . This album contained songs that he wrote when he was bearing arms.

Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ is a Turkish actor and model. Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ was born in Adana in southern Turkey. He has... four siblings. The name Kıvanç means "pride" in Turkish and Tatlıtuğ is a portmanteau of the Turkish words tatlı and tuğ . Although there has been speculation in the former Yugoslav media that he might have a possible Bosnian ancestry, Tatlıtuğ has denied these claims saying he was born and bred in Adana and his family had been in bakery business in this city for more than hundred years. He was sent to Yenice Çağ Private High School by his family where he excelled in basketball. Due to his father's illness, Tatlıtuğ and his family moved to Istanbul so his father could get the proper treatment. In Istanbul, he joined Fenerbahçe Ülker sports club as an amateur basketball player. Kıvanç hosted some pageants and shows. A turning point in Tatlıtuğ's career was when he starred in Gümüş as the character Mehmet Şadoğlu. He acted in the comedy movie "Amerikalılar Karadeniz'de 2" which was directed by Kartal Tibet.

Ozan Çolakoğlu is a Turkish composer, songwriter and music producer; famous for his work with pop idol Tarkan and his various film scores.... He co-founded the production company Sarı Ev , but left it in 2010 to work for dB Müzik. Ozan Çolakoğlu was born in Adana, Turkey in 1972. He attended the Berklee College of Music and his career started with Tarkan's first album called Yine Sensiz. Besides working continuously with the Turkish pop idol, he also contributed to the albums of such notable artists like Nil Karaibrahimgil, Murat Boz or the well known all-female Turkish rock band, Pin-up. In the music world he is also known for his remixes under the name Ozinga. He arranged Every Way That I Can, the song Sertab Erener won the Eurovision contest with. Years later, he would go on to arrange another Eurovision hit Düm Tek Tek, written by his friend Sinan Akçıl. Ozan Çolakoğlu is also credited for co-writing several of Tarkan's songs, including the second version of Şımarık.

She graduated from Adana Borsa High School in Adana, Ayşe was a professional model while she was a university student.
