Agneepath is a 1990 Bollywood crime film directed by Mukul Anand. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty, Madhavi, and Rohini Hattangadi, with Danny Denzongpa as the villain. It was produced by Yash Johar. The title was taken from a poem of the same name called 'Agneepath' which was penned by Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Amitabh's father, and which is recited at the beginning of the movie and creates a thematic link that continues through the movie, particularly in the climax, both literally and metaphorically. Although a huge flop at the box office, Bachchan and Chakraborty received the... National Award for Best Actor and Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award respectively for their performances and holds Cult status now for its treatment of the subject, direction and gold-standard performances. The film got remade of the same name starring Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra. The film begins with a morally upright and honest Gandhian Schoolmaster, Deenanath Chauhan, teaching his son, Vijay about a poem, 'Agneepath', which describes 'The Path of Fire' which a man must cross in his life.
