The Utah Jazz is a professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are currently a part of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association . The franchise began in 1974 as the New Orleans Jazz, in New Orleans, Louisiana, but the team moved to... Utah in 1979 after just five seasons. The Jazz were one of the most unsuccessful teams in the league in their early years, and it would be 10 years before they made a playoff appearance . They would not miss the playoffs again until 2004. During the late 1980s, John Stockton and Karl Malone arose as the franchise players for the team, and formed one of the most famed point guard–power forward duos in NBA history. Led by coach Jerry Sloan, who took over for Frank Layden in 1988, they became one of the powerhouse teams of the 1990s, culminating in two NBA Finals appearances in 1997 and 1998, where they lost both times to the Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan. Both Stockton and Malone moved on in 2003. After missing the playoffs for three consecutive seasons the Jazz returned to prominence under the on-court leadership of point guard Deron Williams.

Monticello is a town in Lawrence County, Mississippi. The population was 1,726 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Lawrence County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.3 square miles , of which 3.2 square miles is land and 0.1 square miles is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,726 people, 690 households, and 451 families residing in the town. The population density was 530.4 people per square mile . There were 754 housing units at an average density of 231.7 per square mile . The racial makeup of the town was 64.19% White, 34.18% African American, 0.98% Asian, and 0.64% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.06% of the population. There were 690 households out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.9% were married couples living together, 19.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.6% were non-families. 32.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.
