The New York State Capitol is the capitol building of the U.S. state of New York. Housing the New York State Legislature, it is located in the state... capital city Albany, on State Street in Capitol Park. The building, completed in 1899 at a cost of $25 million , was the most expensive government building of its time. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1979. The current building is the fourth capitol building. A small building, the Van Gaasbeek house, was used briefly at Kingston, New York. From August 22 to 25, 1777, the Van Schaick House at Cohoes was used by Governor George Clinton as the New York State Capitol. After the Revolution, a second building was erected on land just in front of the current building. The present Capitol was constructed between 1867 and 1899. Three teams of architects worked on the design of the Capitol during the 32 years of its construction. They were managed by: 1867-75: Thomas Fuller, 1875-83: Leopold Eidlitz and Henry Hobson Richardson, 1883-99: Isaac G. Perry. Fuller, the initial architect, was an Englishman who also designed the Canadian Parliament buildings in Ottawa.

Colonie Center is a shopping mall located in Colonie, just outside Albany, at the intersection of Central Avenue, Wolf Road, and Interstate 87.... Opening in 1966, it was the first enclosed shopping mall in New York State's Capital Region. The mall has successfully updated its tenant mix, image, and look on an ongoing basis to keep up with the times, as can be seen from the list of stores on the mall's website. The two-story mall has an area of about 1,300,000 square feet and contains approximately 120 stores as well as a food court. Colonie Center is owned by Heitman Value Partners as of June 2009. While the mall found itself in danger of possibly becoming a dead mall in the 1990s after the opening of rival mall Crossgates and then its expansion in 1994, vacant space never reached critical levels. However, the opening of Boscov's and Christmas Tree Shops in 1998 rejuvenated the mall, and the 2007 redesign increased traffic even further to the point where it rivals Crossgates Mall. According to a local newspaper article, at the time the 2007 expansion was announced, the mall was at 73% occupancy. Since the expansion, occupancy has generally continued to increase.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church, also known as St. Peter's Church, in Albany, New York, is a church built in 1859 that was designed by Richard Upjohn... and his son Richard M. Upjohn. The architecture is French-style decorated Gothic. The building was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1980. It is also a contributing property to the Downtown Albany Historic District. In 1980, the church included an important stained glass window by Weaver and a silver communion service set given to the church by Queen Anne in 1715. The history of the church goes back to 1704, when Queen Anne founded a "chapel of the Onondagas" to bring missionaries. Queen Anne gave the Anglican community in Albany the right to build a church and granted them land east of Fort Frederick, in the middle of Yonkers Street . After many years of conflict in which the city council was dominated by those of the Dutch Reformed faith who attempted to stop construction of the church, Saint Peters was eventually built 1715-17, being opened to the public on November 25, 1717 by Reverend Thomas Barclay.

Schuyler Mansion is a historic house at 32 Catherine Street in Albany, New York, United States. The brick mansion is now a museum and an official... National Historic Landmark. It was constructed from 1761 to 1762 for Philip Schuyler, later a general in the Continental Army and early U.S. Senator, who resided there from 1763 until his death in 1804. It was declared a National Historic Landmark on December 24, 1967. It is also a contributing property to the South End – Groesbeckville Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Schuyler began acquiring the land around the mansion site by 1760. Most of the house's construction took place while he was in England at the behest of his mentor John Bradstreet. Schuyler called the home "The Pasture" because of the pasture view towards the Hudson River. Schuyler and his wife raised eight of their eleven children in the house which originally included 80 acres of land. The house was visited by several notable figures including George Washington and served as a host and prison to British General John Burgoyne for several days after his defeat at the Battle of Saratoga.

Happy Rhodes is an American singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and electronic musician with a four-octave vocal range. She has released 11 albums... since 1986. Born Kimberley Tyler Rhodes but called "Happy" since infancy, she legally changed her name to Happy Tyler Rhodes at age 16. Through her father, Vernon H. Rhodes Jr., Rhodes is a distant relative of Cecil Rhodes and her first name "Kimberley" is after the Kimberley diamond mines. Her middle name "Tyler" is after the American actress Mary Tyler Moore, who was a friend of Rhodes' mother, Susan D. Stamper, while both took dance classes at the New York City Ballet. Rhodes' maternal grandfather Dave Stamper wrote songs for the Ziegfeld Follies of 1913 through 1931, as well as composing the music for several other Broadway shows. A family legend claims that Stamper wrote the well-known song "Shine On, Harvest Moon" in 1903 for Nora Bayes when he was working as her Vaudeville piano accompanist, but sold the rights and credit to Bayes and her husband Jack Norworth. Rhodes' parents divorced when she was young. Rhodes has two brothers who are twins.

William Joseph Devane is an American film, television and theater actor. Devane was born in Albany, New York in 1939 , the son of Joseph Devane,... who was Franklin D. Roosevelt's chauffeur when he was Governor of New York. Devane graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. In 1966, Devane portrayed Robert Kennedy in the Off-Broadway spoof MacBird. He gained acclaim for his role as President John F. Kennedy in a TV movie about the Cuban Missile Crisis, The Missiles of October , and again when he played blacklisted radio personality John Henry Faulk in the Emmy Award-winning TV movie, Fear on Trial . He is widely known for his ten years as the villainous Greg Sumner on Knots Landing. In 1994, Devane appeared as Al Capone in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman in an episode entitled "That Old Gang of Mine". He also had a recurring role on the CBS show Early Edition as lead character's father. Devane appeared in the films McCabe & Mrs.

Prior to joining MTV, Quinn graduated from Ossining High School in 1977 and NYU in 1981. On July 13, 1981, Quinn was working at NYU's Weinstein Dormitory where she answered phones and gave students their toilet paper, mail, and lightbulbs. At the end of her day she decided to stop at WNBC Music Radio, where she'd just finished up interning for her senior year. Coincidentally, California record company executive Burt Stein was also visiting WNBC. He asked out loud if anyone knew what Bob Pittman was doing. Pittman had been the program director of WNBC a year or so earlier, but had left to start a new venture: a cable channel called MTV . WNBC assistant program director Buzz Brindle overheard Stein’s question and remembered the new venture. He turned to Quinn and suggested that she should try out for a role at the new network as a “VJ.

She starred as Gabrielle in Lestat, for which she received nominations for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical and the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, and as Lucille Frank in Parade, for which she won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She also appeared as Donna Sheridan in the long-running hit musical, Mamma Mia!. Carmello most recently originated the role of Alice Beineke in the new musical version of The Addams Family. For this role she was nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical. She took over the role of the Mother Superior from Victoria Clark in the Broadway production of Sister Act on November 19, 2011. She is married to fellow Broadway actor Gregg Edelman. They reside in Leonia, New Jersey with their two children.

He has won numerous awards including Modern Drummer Reader's poll for #1 Up... and Coming Drummer of 2004, and in 2005, #1 Best Recorded Performance for the Shadows Fall album The War Within, #1 Metal drummer #2 Clinician DRUM! magazine 2011. He is recognized for his tight playing, extensive skill with double bass drumming, particularly his ability to play complex patterns at high speeds, and his familiarity with numerous styles of drumming, including Latin, Afro-Cuban, and jazz. Bittner started taking formal drum lessons at the age of ten years old, however he has stated that he "had been banging on pots, pans, and garbage cans since he was about five". A native of Schenectady, NY, he continued to take lessons and perform in his middle school and Linton high school jazz and orchestra ensembles before attending Berklee College of Music in 1988. After a year of intensive study, he left Berklee to pursue his musical career outside the educational environment.

Andrew Aitken "Andy" Rooney was an American radio and television writer. He was most notable for his weekly broadcast "A Few Minutes with Andy... Rooney," a part of the CBS News program 60 Minutes from 1978 to 2011. His final regular appearance on 60 Minutes aired October 2, 2011. He died one month later, on November 4, 2011, at age 92. Andrew Rooney was born in Albany, the son of Walter Scott Rooney and Ellinor Rooney . He attended The Albany Academy, and later attended Colgate University in Hamilton in Central New York, where he was initiated into the Sigma Chi fraternity, before he was drafted into the United States Army in August 1941. Rooney began his career in newspapers while in the Army when, in 1942, he began writing for Stars and Stripes in London during World War II. In February 1943, flying with the Eighth Air Force, he was one of six correspondents who flew on the second American bombing raid over Germany. Later, he was one of the first American journalists to visit the Nazi concentration camps near the end of World War II, and one of the first to write about them.

Michael Patrick Jann is an American actor, writer, and director best known as a cast member on MTV's The State. Jann primarily works as a television... director, he and David Wain directed a majority of the sketches The State. In 1999, Jann directed the film Drop Dead Gorgeous, which to date is the only full-length feature he has directed. He is also the co-writer of the 2006 film Let's Go To Prison, along with Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant. Jann went on to produce and direct the Comedy Central series Reno 911! and was the director of Little Britain USA. In most recent years Jann has directed episodes of many television comedy programs such as Childrens Hospital, Happy Endings, Friends with Benefits , Reaper, Emily's Reasons Why Not, and Flight of the Conchords. In 2001, Jann and wife Lisa LoCicero had a son, Lukas.
