John David Landis is an American film director, screenwriter, actor, and producer. He is known for his comedies, his horror films, and his music videos with singer Michael Jackson. Landis was born to a Jewish family in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Shirley Levine and Marshall Landis, an interior... designer and decorator. His family relocated to Los Angeles when he was four months old. He began working as a mailboy at 20th Century Fox. His first noteworthy job in Hollywood was working as a "go-fer" and then as an assistant director during filming MGM's Kelly's Heroes in Yugoslavia in 1969; he replaced the film's original assistant director, who suffered from a nervous breakdown and was sent home by the producers. While filming, he met actors Don Rickles and Donald Sutherland, both of whom he would later cast in his own films. Following this, Landis worked on many films made in Europe , most notably, Once Upon a Time in the West, El Condor and A Town Called Bastard . Landis also worked as a stunt double.

Joseph "Joe" Dante, Jr. is an American film director, producer and actor of films generally with comedy and science fiction content. His films include Piranha and The Howling , both from scripts by John Sayles; Segment 3 of Twilight Zone: The Movie ; Gremlins , his first major hit, and its sequel... Gremlins 2: The New Batch ; Explorers , Innerspace , Amazon Women on the Moon ; The 'Burbs , Matinee , Runaway Daughters , The Second Civil War , The Warlord: Battle for the Galaxy , Small Soldiers , Looney Tunes: Back in Action , and Homecoming . In 1995–1996, Dante worked on The Phantom, and when he was removed from the film, he chose screen credit rather than pay. He was creative consultant on Eerie, Indiana and directed five episodes. He played himself in the series finale. Dante was born in Morristown, New Jersey. His father was a professional golf player. Dante began his movie career working for Roger Corman, similar to Francis Ford Coppola and James Cameron.

Carl Gottlieb is an American screenwriter, actor, comedian and executive. He is probably best known for co-writing the screenplay for Jaws, as well as directing the 1981 low-budget cult film Caveman. Gottlieb was born in New York City, to Jewish parents: the son of Elizabeth, a medical... administrative assistant, and Sergius M. Gottlieb, an engineer. After studying drama at Syracuse University, he became a member, in the 1960s, of the San Francisco improvisational comedy troupe "The Committee". They made one feature film: A Session with the Committee. He began writing comedy for TV, contributing to The Bob Newhart Show, All in the Family, and The Odd Couple. Minor acting roles have included Robert Altman's M*A*S*H and the film Clueless. Gottlieb also cowrote David Crosby's two autobiographies, 1989's "Long time Gone" and 2006's "Since Then". Gottlieb was hired as an actor to appear as Meadows, the editor of the local newspaper, in Jaws. He was hired by his friend, Steven Spielberg, to redraft the script, adding more dimensions to the characters, particularly humour.

Peter Horton is an American actor and director. He played the role of Prof. Gary Shepherd on the popular television series Thirtysomething until 1991. Horton was born in Bellevue, Washington to a father who worked in the shipping business. He attended Redwood High School and Principia College.... During his run on Thirtysomething, People magazine named him one of the "50 Most Beautiful People". Horton acted in television shows including St. Elsewhere, The White Shadow, Dallas, Eight Is Enough, "In Treatment" and The Geena Davis Show, played the lead in the short-lived series Brimstone, and played Crane McFadden in the one season series "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers". He played Jacob in the 1982 feature film Split Image, Father Mahoney in the 1986 feature film "Where the River Runs Black" Roy Fox in the 1996 film "Two Days In The Valley" and played Burt in the 1984 Stephen King movie Children of the Corn. He also appeared in the 1997 TV movie version of the Jon Krakauer book Into Thin Air: Death on Everest, playing Scott Fischer, the leader of the disastrous 1996 climb on Mount Everest.

Robert K. Weiss is an American film and television producer. His productions include films by director John Landis, producer Lorne Michaels, and the “Z. A. Z.” team of Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker. He also co-created the science-fiction TV series Sliders. He is a... graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Weiss has been the President and Vice Chairman of the X Prize Foundation since 1996. In the film Blues Brothers 2000, the name of Robert K. Weiss is mentioned in a speech by Elwood Blues as the final name in a long list of legendary blues artists that Elwood lists to convince his band not to quit. This is presumably a reference to how Weiss convinced Dan Aykroyd and director John Landis not to quit the film.
