Fort Worth is the 16th-largest city in the United States of America and the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas. Located in North Central Texas, just southeast of the Texas Panhandle, the city is a cultural gateway into the American West and covers nearly 300 square miles in Tarrant,... Denton, and Wise counties, serving as the seat for Tarrant County. According to the 2010 Census, Fort Worth had a population of 741,206. It has been estimated that by 2030 it will have 1,211,665 residents. The city is the second most populous in the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The city was established in 1849 as an Army outpost on a bluff overlooking the Trinity River. Today Fort Worth still embraces its Western heritage and traditional architecture and design. USS Fort Worth  is the first ship of the United States Navy named after the city. Major General William Jenkins Worth was second in command to General Zachary Taylor at the opening of the Mexican–American War in 1846. After the war, Worth was placed in command of the Department of Texas in 1849.

Formed in 1982, as part of American Airlines's non-bankruptcy reorganization into a Delaware corporation, its name derives from American Airlines's former ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange. In addition to American Airlines, AMR owns TWA Airlines LLC, and regional airlines American Eagle Airlines,... successor to Simmons Airlines, and Executive Airlines by way of AMR Eagle Holdings Corporation. Chautauqua Airlines flown in conjunction with American Airlines marketing brand, known as AmericanConnection, are independent of AMR Corporation's divisions and subsidiaries, but do operate in conjunction with them in order to provide seamless connections to AMR's two principal airline holdings. AMR's and AA's Chairman, President, and CEO is Thomas W. Horton. On 29 November 2011, AMR Corporation filed for Chapter 11 reorganization bankruptcy. The Air Transport Association group said that unofficial research states that AMR was the 100th airline company to go into bankruptcy protection since 1990.
