Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium is a 17,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Hadley, Massachusetts on the campus of the University of Massachusetts... Amherst. It was home to the UMass Minutemen football team through the 2011 season, and remains home to the UMass Minutewomen lacrosse team. The stadium is named for Warren P. McGuirk, who was the UMass Athletic Director from 1948 to 1971. Although it is located within the University's campus, which is almost entirely in Amherst, the stadium itself lies just across the border in Hadley. The stadium hosted its first game on September 25, 1965, with UMass beating American International College, 41-0. The stadium was officially dedicated on October 16, 1965, when UMass defeated Rhode Island 30-7 in a Homecoming contest. The most recent sellout at the stadium was on December 2, 2006 with UMass defeating New Hampshire, 24-17. The stadium is also the site of UMass Amherst graduation ceremonies, and hosted the 1987 NCAA women’s soccer championship. On Friday April 10, 2009, an Amherst resident fell from the stadium in what police believe was a suicide. However, the football team has left McGuirk Stadium after the 2011 season.

The Emily Dickinson Museum is a historic house museum consisting of two houses: the Dickinson Homestead and the Evergreens. The Dickinson Homestead... was the birthplace and home from 1855-1886 of 19th-century American poet Emily Dickinson , whose poems were discovered in her bedroom there after her death. The house next door, called the Evergreens, was built by the poet’s father, Edward Dickinson, in 1856 as a wedding present for her brother William Austin Dickinson. Located in Amherst, Massachusetts, the houses are preserved as a single museum and are open to the public on guided tours. The Emily Dickinson Home is a US National Historic Landmark. Robison in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the younger of two sons to poet Margaret Robison and John G. Robison, former head of the philosophy department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is the younger brother of fellow memoirist John Elder Robison. He was raised in Massachusetts, including the towns of Shutesbury, Amherst and Northampton. His parents divorced on July 29, 1978, when Burroughs was twelve years old, and he was adopted by his mother's psychiatrist who resided in the Northampton area. Burroughs dropped out of school after the sixth grade and obtained a GED at age 17. He chose his name at age 18, and legally changed it in Boston. He later enrolled at Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, Massachusetts as a pre-med student, dropping out before the end of the first semester. He decided to settle in New York City and worked for a Manhattan-based advertising company.

Zoë Weizenbaum is an American former actress. Weizenbaum was born in Seattle, Washington to an American mother and a Chinese father. She grew... up from the age of two in Amherst, Massachusetts. For years, African Dance was her primary love. She also enjoyed being part of Amherst's local musical theatre productions. She was called for an audition for Missing in America after someone saw her perform in a local production of Peter Pan. Since finishing this movie, she has also had principal roles in 12 and Holding, directed by Michael Cuesta, and in Memoirs of a Geisha, directed by Rob Marshall. Weizenbaum attended Amherst Regional High School for her freshman year before she decided to return to Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School where she went to middle school and is currently a student. Zoe can speak Mandarin learning through the Rosetta Stone program, as well as enrolling in intensive Chinese courses at Mount Holyoke College and Middlebury College's Summer Intensive Language Program. As of fall of 2010, Zoe is attending Middlebury College and is currently studying Japanese.

Stone's list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. Mascis was born in Amherst, Massachusetts, the son of an orthodontist. His family name is Italian, from the province of Foggia in the South of Italy. His mother is an avid golfer. Mascis formed the short-lived hardcore group Deep Wound with Lou Barlow, Scott Helland and Charlie Nakajima in the early 1980s. He started out on drums, but moved to guitar when he went on to found Dinosaur Jr. with bassist Barlow and drummer Emmett Jefferson 'Patrick' Murphy in 1984 and achieved national success. His vocals have been described as "Neil Young-like" and his guitar riffs as "monolithic." After Mascis dismissed Barlow from Dinosaur Jr. in 1989, he recorded several more Dinosaur Jr. albums until 1997, including the 1996 acoustic solo album Martin + Me. The manager for Deep Wound was Gerard Cosloy, who then went on to found Homestead Records. Homestead released Dinosaur Jr.'s first record.
