Annie is a 1982 American musical film directed by John Huston and choreographed by Arlene Phillips. It is an adaption of the 1977 stage musical of the same name, which in turn was based on the 1924 Little Orphan Annie comic strip by Harold Gray. The film stars Aileen Quinn in her feature film debut as Annie, an orphan living in the Hudson Street Orphanage in New York City, who is taken in by billionaire Oliver Warbucks, played by Albert Finney. Annie must avoid capture by her orphanage's alcoholic caretaker Agatha Hannigan and her brother Rooster, respectively played by Carol Burnett and Tim... Curry, while trying to improve Warbucks' image. The film also features Bernadette Peters, Ann Reinking, Geoffrey Holder, Edward Herrmann, and Peter Marshall. In 1933, during the Great Depression, Annie lives in the Hudson Street Orphanage in New York City. Though the others living there know for a fact that they are orphans, she believes that her parents simply left her there . The orphanage is run by Miss Agatha Hannigan, a drunk, cruel, hopelessly romantic tyrant whom the orphans fear. Among them are Annie, Molly, Pepper, Tessie, Kate, Duffy, and July.
