Aphex Twin

So Solid Crew are an English UK garage, grime and hip hop group originating from Battersea, South London, England, whose hits include "Oh No " and... "21 Seconds", the latter reaching number one in the UK Singles Chart in August 2001. Another hit, "They Don't Know", reached number three in November 2001 and "Haters" got to number eight in January 2002. "Ride Wid Us" was less successful . They released a single, "Broken Silence" which spoke out about government prejudice which they felt they had faced. Before breaking into the mainstream market, SSC had been involved with many pirate radio stations in London, such as Supreme FM and Delight FM . It was at Delight where they made their name, occupying most of the Sunday schedule, the so-called "So Solid Sundays". From around lunchtime until 10pm, there were shows from different members, where the various SSC DJs would play 2-step garage tracks. At times the SSC emcees would rap on top of the tracks for up to two hours each session. On Christmas Day in 2001, SSC performed their last Sunday show on the station.

The Tuss is an electronic music group consisting of British musicians Brian Tregaskin and Karen Tregaskin. So far there has been an EP and an album... released by The Tuss on Rephlex Records. The Guardian newspaper printed rumours that The Tuss is a possible pseudonym of Aphex Twin , or a collaboration featuring him. A newsletter from Warp comparing Confederation Trough's sound to that of an Analord release along with an article in The Guardian supports the theory that The Tuss is Richard D. James. The use of a Yamaha GX1, an exceptionally rare and expensive analog synthesizer also seems to suggest that Brian or Karen Tregaskin is Aphex Twin, as he is one of the few owners of such a synthesizer in the United Kingdom. James also played a track from Rushup Edge during live sets in Mayrhofen, Austria, and Turin, Italy, in 2005 and in Manchester , although he played tracks by Squarepusher, Cylob, and Luke Vibert live as well. Warp, commonly referred to as Warp Records, is a pioneering independent British record label, founded in Sheffield in 1989, notable for discovering some of the more enduring artists in electronic music. Founded by Steve Beckett and the late Rob Mitchell from their experiences working at the FON... record store, alongside record producer Robert Gordon, the label soon became home to artists who would be influential in electronic music. The first release was by Forgemasters , whose limited 500 copy pressing of "Track With No Name" was financed by an Enterprise Allowance grant and distributed in a borrowed car. It set a trend for the early releases both in terms of sound, and the use of purple sleeves . The follow-up was Nightmares on Wax's "Dextrous", which sold around 30,000 copies.

R&S Records is an independent record label. Founded in 1984 in Ghent, Belgium, it is now based in London and managed by Andy Whittaker and Dan Foat. R&S represents the initials of Renaat Vandepapeliere and Sabine Maes, the couple that created the label. The label was first named as Milos... Music Belgium but just one record was released on the label. R&S Records has had several subsidiaries, most notably Apollo Records . Sire Records is an American record label, owned by Warner Music Group and distributed by Warner Bros. Records. The label was founded in 1966 as Sire Productions by Seymour Stein and Richard Gottehrer, each investing ten thousand dollars into the new company. Its early releases as a record label... were issued in 1968, distributed by London Records. From the beginning, Sire introduced underground, progressive British bands to the American market. Early releases included the Climax Blues Band, Barclay James Harvest, Tomorrow, Matthews Southern Comfort and proto-punks The Deviants. The label was distributed by Polydor Records from 1970 until 1971, during which time the now-famous logo was introduced, and then by Famous Music from 1972 to 1974, during which the progressive rock band Focus charted with their 1972 hit "Hocus Pocus". In the seventies, Sire released a number of compilation LPs, including the 3 volume "History Of British Rock" series, and diverse artists such as The Turtles, Duane Eddy, The Small Faces and Del Shannon. ABC Records inherited Sire's distribution contract when it acquired Famous Music in 1974.
