Hargadine Cemetery is a cemetery in Ashland, Oregon, United States. It was established in 1867. Located on a hill on the north end of the city, the... cemetery was named after its first interment, Katie Hargadine, the one-year-old daughter of town pioneer Robert Hargadine. She was buried there on December 8, 1867 and was shortly followed by the burial of another child, Cuyler Farnham, two weeks later. The property was originally owned by James Haworth who deeded one and one-half acres to the two families "for the purpose of a Cemetery or Grave Yard for the burial of the dead and for no other purpose." Many of Ashland's pioneer families are buried there. The cemetery was managed by the Hargadine Cemetery Association established by Robert Hargadine's widow in the late 19th century until the mid-1930s. Proposals for city management were delayed by the depression and World War II and were not finalized until an act of the Oregon Legislature in 1989. The cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Hargadine is pronounced Här-guh-dïne. The first syllable, "Har" is the same as the word 'hard'. The second syllable is the same as the "gu" sound in 'gutter'.

Harper was born at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, Rockland County, New York. Her Canadian-born mother, Iva , was a nurse, and her father, Howard Donald Harper, was a lighting salesman. Harper is of French and British ancestry, and was raised Roman Catholic, although at an early age she "quit" the church. The family moved every two years because of her father's promotions, living in South Orange, New Jersey. St. Andrews in Pasadena, California ; Monroe, Michigan, at age 10, where she attended St. Mary's Academy; then Ashland, Oregon "at [age] 11 to 13"; and then Jersey City, New Jersey from eighth grade through age 18. When her family returned to Oregon, Harper remained in the New York City area to study ballet. She has an older sister, Leah; a younger brother, Don ; and a half-sister, Virginia, from her father's second marriage.

Her American father, a career Navy man, met her mother during the U.S. occupation of Japan following the Second World War. The U.S. military initially did not allow the marriage, but her father returned to Japan two years later to marry Nagase. Curry lived in Japan for several years as a child, attending the Ernest J. King School on the military base in Sasebo. Later she moved to Ashland, Oregon, where she graduated from Ashland High School. She graduated with a BA in Journalism from the University of Oregon in 1978. Curry was raised Roman Catholic by her mother, who was a convert to the religion. Curry is married to software executive, Brian Ross, whom she met in college.

Walsch was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on September 10, 1943, and brought up as a Roman Catholic by a family who encouraged his quest for spiritual truth. He informally studied comparative theology for many years. He says his books are not channelled, but rather that they are inspired by God and that they can help a person relate to Him from a modern perspective. The God in his books, for example, says that "there is nothing you have to do." Walsch believes in a panentheistic God, who tries to communicate Himself as being unselfish. Walsch's vision is an expansion and unification of all present theologies to render them more relevant to our present day and time.

William Scott "Jack" Elam was an American film actor best known for his numerous roles as villains in Western films and, later in his career,... comedies . Elam was born in Miami, Arizona, to Millard Elam and Alice Amelia Kirby. Kirby died in 1924, when young Jack was not quite four years old. By 1930, he was once again living with his father, older sister Mildred, and their stepmother, Flossie . He grew up picking cotton. He lost the sight in his left eye during a boyhood accident when he was stabbed with a pencil at a Boy Scout meeting. He was a student of both Miami High School in Gila County and Phoenix Union High School in Maricopa County and graduated from the latter in the late 1930s. He attended Santa Monica Junior College in California and subsequently became an accountant in Hollywood; one of his clients was movie mogul Samuel Goldwyn. At one time, he was the manager of the Bel Air Hotel in Los Angeles. In 1949, Elam made his debut in She Shoulda Said No!, an exploitation film where a chorus girl's marijuana smoking ruins her career and drives her brother to suicide.
