Game Overview

The Burning Earth starts off at the beginning of Book Two in the Avatar series. Aang is now a master Waterbender, so he sets off with Sokka and Katara to learn about Earthbending. The game covers a chunk of the second season, hitting some major plot points and episode, like "The Swamp," "The Blind Bandit," and "The Drill." Along the way the cast meets up with Toph Bei Fong, the blind master Earthbender. Fans of the show will notice that some events are either glossed over or moved around. It makes sense to condense the story, but the game ends right after the drill attack on Ba Sing Se, with everyone happy and relieved, a much different tone from the end of the second season of the show. It feels like the game isn't so much for fans of the series, but fans of the previous DS game.

The Bottom Line

Based on the popular Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series, Avatar: The Burning Earth continues the epic adventure of Aang and his courageous battle to restore balance to his war-torn world. Join him and his friends Katara, Toph, and Sokka as they master their skills and fight their way to defend the greatest Earth Kingdom city against a Fire Nation invasion!
