About Ryan Noble & Stephanie Leffler

During the spring of 2000, Ryan and Stephanie composed a business plan to sell products online.  During the store building process, Leffler and Noble became frustrated by waiting for web developers to make simple changes to product inventory, pricing and store design.  The pair’s search for an easy to manage store building solution turned up empty.

Sensing a business opportunity, Ryan and Stephanie changed direction.  Rather than directing their efforts towards selling products online, they would develop a hosted e-commerce platform – a turnkey application for building and operating an online store.

The birth of MonsterCommerce

The start-up’s primary focus was building a feature rich and stable e-commerce solution.  The company was guided by two primary principles:

  • build a merchant centric product – save merchants time, help them make money
  • create a great internal culture – a fun and rewarding place to work

As the number of MonsterCommerce customers grew so did demand for services complimentary to online selling.  Ryan and Stephanie expanded the company’s service offerings to include search engine optimization, store design and merchant accounts.  The company also launched MonsterMarketplace,  featuring millions of products from MonsterCommerce online stores. The shopping site grew quickly receiving 750,000 visitors per day.

By the end of 2005, the MonsterCommerce had to grown to 83 team members, 6,000 active online stores and annual sales of $12,000,000.  The company received awards and accolades for product quality, achieving high growth and maintaining an exceptional company culture:

In early 2006, MonsterCommerce was acquired by Herndon, Virginia based Network Solutions.  The acquisition fueled additional growth at the Illinois based company tripling the team member count the first year.  Ryan and Stephanie managed the day to day operations at MonsterCommerce for 18 months before leaving the company to pursue their new start-up Juggle.com.

Juggle is an energetic Internet company based in the metro St. Louis area. Click here to learn more about working for Juggle.
