The Pizzeria Napoli is a pizza restaurant in Baghdad, Iraq. The owner Waleed Mamoud previously lived in Italy and along with his brother, set up the... restaurant on Saturday, June 27, 2003 after the fall of Saddam Hussein's government after the 2003 invasion of Iraq. He made a risk business selling pizza to coalition troops, and even received a mobile phone from American forces to receive orders. His business suffered as the insurgency flared in Iraq and in December 2004, a suicide bomber blew up outside of coalition headquarters and severely damaged his restaurant, among other buildings nearby.

Al Shaab Stadium also known as The People's Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Baghdad, Iraq. It is used mostly for football matches and is the... home of the Iraq national football team. The stadium has seating for 40,000 fans. It was built in 1966. The opening match featured Iraq and Benfica, for whom Eusébio was playing. The stadium was a gift to the Iraqi government from the Gulbenkian Foundation. Al Shaab Stadium was opened in 1966, the opening game was between Iraq national team and Benfica Football Club from Portugal for whom the legendary Eusébio was playing at those days and he was part of the team during the match. The Iraqi National team did not play any international fixtures in the stadium for more than two decades due to security reasons ; During the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq the stadium was turned into an army base by the United States Army. The stadium was re-qualified in 2007 and national football fixtures resumed at that time.

The Al-Aaimmah bridge' is a bridge over the river Tigris in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad. The bridge links the areas of Adhamiya, which is a... majority Sunni Arab area, from its East bank with the Shia area of Kadhimiya on its west. It was the place of a deadly stampede on 31 August 2005 when hundreds of Shiite pilgrims were crushed. The stampede caused the railings to give way, allowing hundreds to fall to their deaths in the river. The bridge had been closed for the three months prior to the incident. Although Adhamiyah has been the site of many clashes between Iraqi insurgents and US forces as well as tensions between Shia security forces and Sunni residents, in September 2005, the residents of Adhamiyah were credited with saving hundreds of Shia lives. Shia pilgrims who were caught in a stampede on "the Imams bridge" , coming from the opposing shore of Kadhimiyah, began jumping from the bridge in an attempt to escape the crush, only to face drowning in the Tigris below.

Farhat Ezekiel Nadira , commonly known as Nadira was an actress in Indian cinema. She is best remembered for her performance in films in the 1950s... and 1960s such as Shree 420 , Pakeezah and Julie , which won her Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. Nadira was born to a Baghdadi Jewish family. She is survived by two brothers, one of whom lives in the USA and another in Israel. Nadira rose to cinematic prominence with the 1952 film Aan with her role as a savage princess. She did a bold scene in the movie. In 1955, she played a rich socialite named Maya in Shree 420. She played lead roles in a number of films such as Dil Apna Prit Parayee, Hanste Zakhm, Amar Akbar Anthony and Pakeezah. She was often cast as a temptress or vamp, and played opposite the chaste heroines then favored by the Bollywood film industry. Nadira won a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress, her role as Julie's mother Margaret, 'Maggie', in the 1975 film Julie. During the 1980s and 1990s, she entered a new phase of her career, playing elderly women as a supporting actress. Her last role was in the film Josh .

He is Professor of Theoretical Physics and Chair... in the Public Engagement in Science at the University of Surrey. He has hosted several BBC productions about science and is a frequent commentator about science in other British media venues. Born in Baghdad in 1962 to an Iraqi father and English mother, Al-Khalili studied physics at the University of Surrey. He graduated with a B.Sc. degree in 1986 and stayed on to pursue a Ph.D. degree in nuclear reaction theory, which he obtained in 1989. In 1989, he was awarded a Science and Engineering Research Council postdoctoral fellowship at University College London. Al-Khalili returned to Surrey in 1991, first as a research assistant then lecturer. In 1994, Al-Khalili was awarded an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Advanced Research Fellowship for five years, during which time he established himself as a leading expert on mathematical models of exotic atomic nuclei. He has published widely in his field.

Nazem El Ghazali was one of the most popular singers in the history of Iraq and his songs are still heard by many in the Arab world. He was born in... the Haydar Khanah quarter in Baghdad, and studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Iraq. He started his career as an actor, and after a few years turned to singing. He worked at the Iraqi Radio in 1948, and was member of the Andalusian Muashahat Ensemble. In that period he worked with the great oudist Jamil Bashir, and together they produced some distinguished works, such as Fog el-Nakhal and Marrou 'Alayya el-Hilween. He was also a student of Muhammad al-Qubbanchi, , one of the most prominent maqam singers of the last century. Nazem was renowned for his popular songs and he has also recorded some maqams. According to many, his refined mellow voice was the finest in the field. He was married to prominent Iraqi Jewish singer Salima Murad. Nazem Al-Ghazali's band consisted of many prominent musicians known to the Arab world. The flute player, in addition to the khanoun player, were blind.

Ghosh gained fame... in the mid 1960s when Rushdi sang his compositions in films like Chakori, Jahan tum wahan hum, Paisa, etc. Ghosh's father worked for the International Red Cross and was posted to Baghdad, Iraq during the Second World War, where Ghosh was educated in a convent school. His religion is Hinduism. His brother, Ashok Ghosh, was a famous film director in the film industry of Bangladesh. When the Second World War ended in 1945, the six-year-old Ghosh along with his family moved to Dhaka, in Bengal . He showed great interest in music, collecting gramophone records and playing the harmonium, and finally graduated with music major in Dhaka. In the late 1950s, Ghosh was offered a job at the Dhaka Radio Station by a friend. This friend's sister, Jharna Basak who occasionally played minor roles in various Bengali films became friends with him. The two finally got married. They have a son, Ronnie, who was born in 1966.
