Baldur's Gate

Minsc is a fictional character in the Baldur's Gate series of Dungeons & Dragons role-playing video games developed by BioWare. Minsc originated... in pen and paper Dungeons & Dragons sessions held by Baldur's Gate's Lead Designer James Ohlen, and was expanded upon by the game's lead writer, Luke Kristjanson. First appearing in Baldur's Gate, Minsc later appeared in its sequel, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and expansion, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, as well as in promotions relating to the titles. Minsc is voiced by Jim Cummings in all appearances. Minsc is a ranger, originally tasked with serving as a bodyguard to the witch Dynaheir as part of a rite of passage. After assisting the protagonist defeat his brother, they are captured alongside him. After Dynaheir is killed by the mage Jon Irenicus, Minsc offers his services to the protagonist in the pursuit of justice. A berserker, Minsc has a strong desire to uphold good and be heroic, though with an extreme fervor that causes those around him to regard him as possibly insane. His animal companion is a hamster named Boo, who he believes is a "miniature giant space hamster" and consults for advice.

Edwin Odesseiron is a prominent fictional character in the classic Baldur's Gate series, a Dungeons & Dragons computer role-playing game created... by Bioware that takes place in the Forgotten Realms. Edwin is an evil mage , bent on his own agendas, rather than those of the player character, and in certain situations his personal goals and connections play into the storyline. He is one of several non-player character available to accompany the main character through the storyline of the Baldur's Gate series. He is voiced throughout the series by Jim Meskimen. Edwin appears in both Baldur's Gate and its sequel Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn as a Conjurer of Thay, and can be recruited as part of the main character's entourage in both instances. Little is actually known about Edwin's past, save the obvious regard towards his origin, and a few other minor details gleaned via acts of circumstance and commentary. Originally, it is believed he was a wizard born within a noble house of Thay, although which house is never stated, nor is anything about his previous life before meeting the player.

Bodhi is a fictional character in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, a Dungeons & Dragons computer role-playing game set in the Forgotten Realms... campaign setting. Bodhi is a vampire and the sister of Jon Irenicus. Bodhi and Jon conspire to trap the protagonist in a bold and elaborate scheme. It is revealed during the game that Bodhi was the one who tempted Irenicus into conspiring against the Elven deities, thus forcing them into exile and losing their souls. As she was a capable mage, Bodhi decided to counter the curse of her lost soul, switching to vampirism. Bodhi manages to steal the soul of Imoen, but is eventually killed by the protagonist with a stake.

James Ohlen is a Canadian video game designer and Senior Creative Director of BioWare. Early in his career, Ohlen briefly wrote and provided testing for Shattered Steel. He moved into a full-time role as designer for Baldur's Gate, and has since been a lead designer for games such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate II. Ohlen headed the design team for BioWare's massively multiplayer online... role-playing game, Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Black Isle Studios was a division of the computer and video game developer and publisher Interplay Entertainment. Black Isle Studios was a division that developed role-playing video games, and also published several games from other developers. It was based in Orange County, California, USA. The... division was formed in 1996, adopting the name "Black Isle Studios" in 1998. The idea for the division's name came from the Black Isle in Scotland - founder Feargus Urquhart's native country. Black Isle Studios is most famous for working on Planescape: Torment, though they also achieved success with the Fallout, Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate series of role-playing video games, though it merely published the Baldur's Gate series. Two compilations bearing their name were also released: Canceled projects include: In 1998, several key members responsible for Fallout, left Interplay to form Troika Games after they "were unable to come to an agreement with Interplay as to how [their] next team should be structured". On December 8, 2003, in the midst of serious financial difficulties, Interplay laid off the entire Black Isle Studios staff.
