Game Overview

Balls of Fury is based on the film of the same name and transforms a friendly game into something much more. You must use the Nintendo DS stylus to control your paddle and then volley, block and slam the ball past your enemies. Play as Randy Daytona, Feng or one of eight other characters and use a variety of shots to strategize against your rivals. The action is intense, so keep your wits about you to keep the ball in play. Take on the competition on your own or test your skills against a friend.

The Good

Table tennis with the stylus works really well, Battling the CPU is fun for a while, Multiplayer mode lets you compete against your local friends, You can play ping pong as Christopher Walken.

The Bad

Graphics and audio don't exude much energy, You may need to take advantage of multiplayer to feel you got your money's worth.

The Bottom Line

Welcome to the unsanctioned, underground world of ping-pong tournaments. Down-and-out former professional ping-pong phenom Randy Daytona is sucked into this maelstorm when FBI Agent Ernie Rodriguez recruits him for a secret mission. Randy is determined to bounce back and win, and to smoke out his father's killer -- arch fiend Feng.

Yep, I was surprised that Balls of Fury turned out to be a playable, challenging game of Table Tennis on the Nintendo DS. The license is barely used and the design's about as funny as an episode of Small Wonder, but at least the Ping Pong is solid.
