Paul Bunyan Statue is a 31-foot -tall concrete and metal sculpture of mythical logger Paul Bunyan in the Kenton neighborhood of Portland, Oregon,... United States. It was built in 1959 to commemorate the centennial of Oregon's statehood during the Centennial Exposition and International Trade Fair, which was held in the Kenton area. The sculpture was originally prominently placed at the intersection of North Interstate Avenue and North Argyle Street, and now stands at the corner of North Interstate and North Denver. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in January 2009. The statue was the Highlighted Property of the Week when the National Park Service released its weekly list of February 6, 2009.

William Sebastian Cohen is an author and American politician from the U.S. state of Maine. A Republican, Cohen served as both a member of the United... States House of Representatives and Senate, and as Secretary of Defense under Democratic President Bill Clinton. Cohen was born in Bangor, Maine. His mother, Clara , was of Protestant Irish ancestry, and his father, Reuben Cohen, was a Russian Jewish immigrant; the two owned the Bangor Rye Bread Co. After graduating from Bangor High School in 1958, Cohen attended Bowdoin College, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin in 1962. While in high school and college, Cohen was a basketball player and was named to the Maine all-state high school and college basketball team, and at Bowdoin was inducted into the New England All-Star Hall of Fame. Cohen attended law school at the Boston University School of Law, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws degree cum laude in 1965. After graduating from law school, Cohen earned partnership in a Bangor law firm. He became an assistant county attorney for Penobscot County .

Charles 'Red' Rocket was an American film and television actor, notable for his tenure as a cast member on Saturday Night Live as well as for his... appearances as the villain Nicholas Andre in the film Dumb and Dumber; as Dave Dennison, the father in Disney's Hocus Pocus. Rocket was born Charles Adams Claverie in Bangor, Maine. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design in the late 1960s and was part of the Rhode Island underground culture scene in the 1970s that also included Talking Heads frontman David Byrne and film director Gus Van Sant. He had a son with his wife Beth. They were married on board the battleship USS Massachusetts anchored in Fall River, Massachusetts. He appeared from time to time with his friend Dan Gosch as superheroes "Captain Packard" and his faithful sidekick "Lobo". In a RISD yearbook, the dynamic duo appeared in a photo at the Rhode Island State House with then-Governor Frank Licht. Rocket made several short films and fronted his band, the Fabulous Motels, on accordion.

Despite initially sluggish sales, Stop All The World Now was certified gold in early 2005 and has produced a number of singles, including the hits "She Says" and "Collide", Day's most successful to date. The track became Epic Records’ first platinum single, eventually selling 1.5 million downloads. After a five year tour before the release of Stop All The World Now followed by a three year tour, Day took some time off and focused on writing music. Day released his Be There EP in May 2009 followed by Sound The Alarm, released on September 8, 2009. Day received significant negative attention after two high profile arrests.

Robert Cochrane "Bob" Marley, Jr. is a comedian from Portland, Maine. He has stated that when he was born, his father had no idea there was a singer... named Bob Marley. Marley was born in Bangor, Maine in 1970. He then lived in the Munjoy Hill area of Portland and graduated from Deering High School in 1985. Marley went on to attend the University of Maine at Farmington, graduating with a degree in Community Health. However, even when in college, he knew that he wanted to pursue comedy as his career. He is regularly hosted on Sirius Satellite Radio channels 103 Blue collar radio and 104 RawDog comedy and appears every week on Coast 93.1-WMGX in Portland, Maine, where his segment is called "The World According to Bob." On September 23, 2010 at 11 PM Bob Marley entered the Guiness Book of World Records with the longest continuous standup routine.

Todd Verow is an American film director who now resides in New York City, New York. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design and the AFI... Conservatory. Together with his creative partner, James Derek Dwyer, he formed Bangor Films in 1995. He was also the cinematographer for Jon Moritsugu's film Terminal USA . He has been called a veteran of the New Queer Cinema. In more recent years his numerous productions on digital video have led to him being called "once and future king of DV" by Film Threat.

Sarah Parcak , is an American archaeologist and Egyptologist, who uses satellite imaging to identify archaeological sites in Egypt. Parcak received... her Bachelor's degree in Egyptology and Archaeological Studies from Yale University in 2001, and her Ph.D. from Cambridge University. Currently, she is an assistant professor of Anthropology at the University of Alabama, Birmingham; prior to that she was a teacher of Egyptian art and history at the University of Wales, Swansea. From 2003 to 2004, Parcak used a combination of satellite imaging analysis and surface surveys in the detection of 132 new archaeological sites, some dating back to 3,000 B.C.. In her latest work, Parcak tested several different types of satellite imagery to determine and isolate water sources within the arid region of the Sinai, East Delta and Middle Egypt, potentially determining probable archaeological sites. This new process greatly decreases the time and cost for determining archaeological sites compared to the older method of local surface detection.

Everett Glass was an American character actor who appeared in more than eighty films and television shows from the 1940s through the 1960s,... including Invasion of the Body Snatchers and episodes of Adventures of Superman, Lassie, and Perry Mason. He began as a stage actor and had a long career as a theatre director and playwright before coming to Hollywood in his 50s. Everett William Glass was born in Bangor, Maine and attended Amherst College, where he was on the editorial staff of the Amherst Monthly. By 1916 he was living in Boston and working as assistant to the Polish emigre director Richard Ordynski in producing Henry IV for the Shakespeare Tercentenery. In 1917 he was one of the original members of the permanent company of the Greenwich Village Theatre in New York. In 1926 Glass was in Berkeley, California, where he received rave reviews for his starring role in "The Drunkard", a comedy. By 1928 he was directing at the Berkeley Playhouse and in charge of the Wheeler Hall Plays series at the University of California, a position he held into the 1930s. After 1938 he was also writing as well as directing plays, such as "Princes, Ltd.
