South Carolina State University is a historically black university located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, United States. It is the only state funded, historically black land-grant institution in South Carolina and is a member school of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund. The school's campus... size is 160 acres , with an additional 287 acres at Camp Harry Daniels in Elloree, South Carolina. Three buildings, Lowman Hall, Hodge Hall, and Dukes Gymnasium were placed in the South Carolina State College Historic District, making all three buildings National Historical Landmarks. Academic programs received more attention as the student population increased, but other programs, such as the university's high school, were forced to close due to the Great Depression. Fortunately, the New Deal Programs were used to create, among other things, Wilkinson Hall, the university's first separate library building . The college's campus grew, as it purchased over 150 acres for agricultural learning. After World War II, many students flocked to the college, creating a classroom shortage problem for the school.

Lincolnton is a city in and the county seat of Lincoln County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,566 at the 2010 census. It is the location for the historical site, Elijah Clark State Park, and contains numerous houses and historic districts listed on the National Register of Historic... Places. Both the city and the county were named for General Benjamin Lincoln, who served in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Lincolnton is located at 33°47′40″N 82°28′35″W / 33.79444°N 82.47639°W / 33.79444; -82.47639 . According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.2 square miles , all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,595 people, 657 households, and 428 families residing in the city. The population density was 498.6 people per square mile . There were 657 housing units at an average density of 205.4 per square mile . The racial makeup of the city was 56.80% White, 42.19% African American, 0.06% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.13% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.13% of the population.
