Estadio Tomás Arrieta is a baseball park in Barranquilla, Colombia. It currently serves as the home of the Caimanes de Barranquilla. The stadium holds 8,000 people.

Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez is a multi-use All-seater stadium in Barranquilla, Colombia. It is the home stadium of local football... team Atlético Junior. It was built with a capacity of 49,612 for the failed Colombian World Cup bid in 1986, making it one of the largest in Colombia. It was inaugurated in 1986 with a game between Uruguay and Atletico Junior, which the Uruguayans won 2-1. The first official name of the stadium was "Estadio Metropolitano", which was changed around 1991 in order to honor a hero of Colombian football, Roberto Meléndez. This is the official stadium for the national football team of Colombia. With renovations made for the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia the stadium reached a capacity for 60,000 people. Before the construction of Metropolitan Stadium, the city only had the Romelio Martinez Stadium, which was built in 1934 with a capacity of 10,000 spectators. Since the advent of professional football to Barranquilla in 1948, it became evident the need for a sports arena that would house the football fans. In the early 1970s, the expansion of the Romelio Martinez Stadium was projected with the construction of new bleachers for the sports arena.

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll , known mononymously as Shakira, is a Colombian singer-songwriter who emerged in the music scene of Colombia and Latin... America in the early 1990s. Born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, Shakira began performing in school, demonstrating her vocal ability with rock and roll, Latin and Arabic influences with her own original twist on belly dancing. Shakira is a native Spanish speaker and also speaks fluent English and Portuguese as well as some Italian, French, Catalan and Arabic. After a poor commercial reception with local producers on her first two albums, and being little-known outside Colombia, Shakira decided to produce her own brand of music. In 1995 she released Pies Descalzos, which brought her great fame in Latin America and Spain, and her 1998 album Dónde Están los Ladrones? was a critical success selling over 7 million copies worldwide.

Sofía Margarita Vergara Vergara is a Colombian actress, comedian, television hostess and model. Vergara had been widely known for co-hosting... two television shows for Univisión in the late 1990s. Her television career opened up for her a window of exposure to North American audiences prior to her first notable acting job in English, the 2003 film Chasing Papi. Subsequently, she appeared in films, including two Tyler Perry films, Meet the Browns and Madea Goes to Jail , receiving an ALMA Award nomination for the latter. Vergara's success on television has earned her roles in recent films, The Smurfs , New Year's Eve , Happy Feet Two and The Three Stooges . As of 2012 Vergara stars on the ABC series Modern Family as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, for which she was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards for Best Comedy Actress. Vergara was born in Barranquilla, Colombia. Her mother, Margarita Vergara Dávila de Vergara, is a homemaker, and her father, Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, produced cattle for the meat industry.

Nina García, is a Colombian fashion journalist and critic who has held the post of Fashion Director at Elle and Marie Claire magazines, and is... currently a judge on the Lifetime reality television program Project Runway. Garcia was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, the daughter of a wealthy importer. She graduated from the Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Massachusetts in 1983 and holds a bachelor's degree from Boston University. Later she attended Ecole Superieure de la Mode in Paris and also earned a bachelor's degree in 1992 from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Garcia began her career in the fashion industry in the early 1980s. She worked in the public relations department for Perry Ellis and its then-designer, Marc Jacobs. After leaving Marc Jacobs, Garcia moved to Mirabella where she worked as Assistant Stylist and Market Editor, until taking a position at Elle. She became Fashion Director of Elle in 2000. Garcia left the Fashion Director position in April 2008, becoming Editor-at-Large at the magazine until the end of August. On April 11, 2008, Us Weekly reported that Garcia left her post as fashion director of Elle.

Jery Sandoval is an actress, model and singer. In Colombia, she is known for her role of María Reyes in Los Reyes, a Colombian version of an... Argentinian telenovela called Los Roldán, she also starred on a Televisa Mexican telenovela Código Postal as Regina Corona.. Most recently, she appeared on MTV LA's Popland television series. Jery Sandoval, was born in Barranquilla, Colombia and from a very early age lived at Carmen de Bolivar. There she studied at a Catholic school. Her artistic ability was demonstrated at 12 years of age; it was natural since her family had always sponsored her interest in singing and music. Sandoval began singing in her school's tuna . When she was 12, became part of a group called "Notas y Colores," at Carmen de Bolivar, which sang ballads and afroantilian music. In addition, with her cousin Luis they formed another group, which they won first place in a singing contest in Sincelejo. Between 14 and 16, Jery traveled constantly between Barranquilla and Bogota. She knew people in the music business who asked her to record her first CD.

In 2001, Jael moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue a career in modeling and acting. She studied acting with some of the top coaches in the industry including Susan Batson and Janet Alhanti. Jael has since appeared in television and print campaigns for companies such as Levis, Apple, Verizon, Sony, and Nissan. Jael also became a spokesperson for the national anti-tobacco Truth Campaign appearing at venues such as House of Blues, MTV Beach House, and the Warped Tour. In 2004, Jael starred in the critically acclaimed film, Subway Cafe, alongside Rick Gonzalez and Crystal Allen. Beginning in 2005, she began working for the cable television network, Current TV, as a show host, producer and field reporter. She has garnered numerous awards for her work on Current TV including the Silver Telly Award and the Bronze Remi.
