The Stade de Suisse Wankdorf is a football stadium in Bern, Switzerland. It is the home ground of the Swiss football team BSC Young Boys, and is... currently the second biggest all-seater football stadium in Switzerland. The Wankdorf was one of the venues for Euro 2008. The Stade de Suisse was built on the grounds of the former Wankdorf Stadium, which was demolished in 2001. The new stadium has a capacity of 32,000 spectators, all covered seats. Integrated into the roof are solar panels with a yearly production of 1'200'000 kWh. The stadium was officially opened on July 30, 2005, although the first match in the new stadium had already taken place on July 16, 2005. Young Boys played against Olympique Marseille and lost 2–3 with 14,000 spectators watching. The match was considered an "infrastructure test", which is why no more than 14,000 tickets were sold. The stadium was used by FC Thun for three Champions League home matches in 2005, and for one home match in the UEFA Cup Round of 32 in 2011. A peculiar feature of the Stade de Suisse is the presence of a single, red seat .

PostFinance Arena is an arena in Bern, Switzerland. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of SC Bern. It was built in 1967 and... holds currently 17,131 people. A characteristic trait of the PostFinance Arena is the world's biggest standing room grandstand in an arena with a capacity of 10,422 people. The PostFinance Arena was the main arena for the 2009 IIHF World Championships, and has already hosted the inaugural Victoria Cup. PostFinance Arena holds a Europe-wide record, having a 16,203 spectator average in the 2008/2009 season. Due to its age and with an eye towards the 2009 IIHF World Championships, the arena was renovated. The holder invested about CHF 100 million into the extension and restoration of the building. The modification was finished by April 24, 2009, when the World Championships started. The interior of the arena is nearly obtained, especially the steep standing room stand, which is very popular with the fans. However the VIP-zone was entirely rebuilt and the capacity there was extended by about 500. The total capacity is now 17,131 spectators.

Stadion Neufeld is a multi-use stadium in Berne, Switzerland. It is the home ground of FC Bern and the junior team of BSC Young Boys. The capacity of... the stadium is 14,000 spectators, including 3000 seats. BSC Young Boys used the stadium from 2001/02 to 2004/05, during the construction of Stade de Suisse. It would also host the 1954 European Championships in Athletics.

Dieter Günter Bohlen is a German songwriter, singer, musician, producer, entertainer, TV personality, and writer. Bohlen is best known for... being part of popular pop-duo Modern Talking during 1984–1987 and 1998–2003. Bohlen took his Abitur in Oldenburg. His father was a supplier to the construction business. In 1978 Dieter Bohlen was member of the band Monza. In 1981 he was member of trio Sunday, and they had a hit "Hale Hey Louise", which has been covered by Ricky King and others. From 1984 to 1987 and from 1998 to 2003, Bohlen was one half of the pop duo Modern Talking as producer, songwriter and composer. From 1985 to 1988 he produced and wrote songs for the disco singer C. C. Catch. In 1988, Dieter Bohlen signed 15 year old singer Anna Garcia whose stage name was "Sheree". Her record did not make a great impression on the German charts. After the first split-up of Modern Talking in 1987, Bohlen formed Blue System. For most projects Bohlen had session singers for background vocals to produce a high-pitched chorus. He frequently worked the studio with the producer Luis Rodríguez.

Gottfried von Einem was an Austrian composer. He is known chiefly for his operas influenced by the music of Stravinsky and Prokofiev, as well as by... jazz. He also composed pieces for piano, violin and organ. Einem was born in Bern, Switzerland, into an Austrian diplomat family. According to Einem's publisher, his father was William von Einem, a part of the Austrian military attaché in Bern. According to another source, however, he was adopted by Einem, his natural father being the Hungarian aristocrat Count László von Hunyadi. After his school days he went to Berlin, where he studied with Boris Blacher and became a répétiteur for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Through Blacher, Einem met his first wife, Lianne von Bismarck, whom he married in 1946 . They had a son, Caspar Einem , who is now a former Austrian cabinet minister who still sits in the National Council on the Social Democratic bench. In 1953, the family moved back to Vienna. Lianne von Bismarck died in 1962. In 1966 Einem married his librettist, the renowned Austrian playwright and author Lotte Ingrisch.

Mirjam Ott is a Swiss curler who lives in Laax, Switzerland. She is the current World Curling Champion. She is the skip of the Swiss Olympic... Curling Team. She has participated in several Olympic Games contests and has won numerous awards in many other curling events worldwide. Ott won the Olympic silver medal twice; in the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and 2006 in Turin , making her the first woman with two Olympic medals in curling. In 2008 the team won the European Championship in Sweden. At the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, her team finished a disappointing fourth place, as Ott's touch completely deserted her late in the semi-final and bronze medal matches. Ott won the 2012 Ford World Women's Curling Championship after defeating Sweden's Margaretha Sigfridsson in the final.

Tanja Frieden is a Swiss snowboarder. She won a gold medal in the inaugural Snowboard Cross competition at the 2006 Winter Olympics. In the... Snowboard Cross finals at the 2006 Winter Olympics, Frieden was in second place well behind American Lindsey Jacobellis when the latter crashed while attempting to showboat on the second to last jump. Frieden passed Jacobellis and won the gold medal. In her pocket was a Norwegian flag in memory of her friend, snowboarder Line Lunde Østvold, who died in a training accident in 2004 aged 25. Frieden, whose mother is from Norway, is fluent in Norwegian, as well as the Swiss German dialect of her native area. She also can speak German, French and English. She is a primary school teacher in Switzerland and lives half the year near her home town by the mountains of the Bernese Oberland. The other half she is on world tour in the ski/snowboard races. After an Achilles heel injury which left her unable to defend her Olympic title, Frieden retired from snowboard cross three weeks before the Vancouver Games in 2010.

Liselotte Pulver , sometimes credited as Lilo Pulver, is a Swiss actress. Pulver was one of the stars of German cinema in the 1950s and 1960s, where... she often was cast as a tomboy. She is well known for her hearty and joyful laughter. Pulver was born in Bern to civil engineer Fritz Eugen Pulver and his wife Germaine. In 1960, she met German actor Helmut Schmid on the set of Gustav Adolfs Page: they married on 9 September 1961. The couple had two children, son Marc-Tell and daughter Melisande . Her daughter committed suicide in 1989. Her husband died in 1992 of a heart attack. Pulver lives secluded in Perroy, Canton Vaud on the shores of Lake Geneva; she also has an apartment at the Burgerheim, a retirement home near Bern. From 1945 on she attended commercial school. After graduating in 1948, she worked as a model and took acting classes at the Bern conservatory, now part of the Bern University of Applied Sciences. Following small parts at the Bern Theatre , she appeared at the renowned Schauspielhaus Zürich, one of the most prestigious German-speaking theatres.
