Billie Joe Armstrong

Pinhead Gunpowder is an American punk rock band formed East Bay, California, in 1990. The band has consisted of Aaron Cometbus , Bill Schneider ,... Billie Joe Armstrong and Jason White for the majority of its existence. Mike Kirsch was the original guitarist, in place of White, but left the band citing personal differences with Green Day and their major label debut album Dookie . The band's name comes from a brand of "high octane" green tea served at the Arcata co-op and discovered serendipitously by Aaron Cometbus during one of his many dumpster diving adventures. Cometbus, who releases the Cometbus fanzine, has played in many East Bay area bands such as Crimpshrine. Schneider is now Green Day's guitar tech and tour manager. Jason White plays additional guitar for Green Day; along with founding the seminal punk rock band Chino Horde. White has played in The Influents as well as The Big Cats. Mike Kirsch has also been an active member in several East Bay bands such as Fuel, Torches to Rome, Bread and Circuits and many others.

The Lookouts were an American punk rock band that existed from 1985 to 1990 on Iron Peak, a remote rural mountain community outside of Laytonville,... CA. The members were Lawrence Livermore on guitar and vocals, Kain Kong on bass and vocals and Tre Cool on drums and vocals. All three have contributed on songwriting. The band is most famous for being Tre Cool's first band before joining Green Day. Looking to start a punk band, Livermore had trouble finding members, citing the majority of the local musicians being hippies and "completely uninterested in the music we wanted to make". Eventually, Livermore recruited a 12 year old neighbor, Frank Edwin Wright III to play drums and 14 year old Kain Kong On Bass. Although he had never played drums before, young Frank showed an instant affinity for them, possibly because, as Livermore said, "he loved making a lot of noise and getting everyone to look at him." Claiming that the members needed "punk rock names," Livermore began calling him "Tre," a play on the French word "très," or "very." The last name "Cool" was added later.

The Foxboro Hot Tubs band is a side project of Green Day. All members of the band perform live with Green Day . Their debut album, Stop Drop and... Roll!!! was released on April 22, 2008. As with Green Day's other side project , Billie Joe Armstrong adopted an alter ego who goes by the name Reverend Strychnine Twitch. In 2008, the band embarked on a small tour in the Bay Area, touring tiny club venues. The band was brought to the attention of Green Day fans through messages sent to a select few members of the Idiot Club in December 2007, with three songs on their website. They formed with the idea that they "love to play music and be spontaneous, and after a few late night jams and a few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings". While the band's history is, as yet, unknown, they comprise the official and backing members of Green Day , who are performing "garage" music under a nom de plume. Fans of Green Day have noted, on the band's MySpace site, many musical similarities between the band and Green Day.

Lookout Records was an independent record label based in Berkeley, California focusing on punk rock. Larry Livermore and David Hayes formed the label in 1987. From the start, Lookout released punk rock records, but over time expanded its scope to include various types of pop rock, reggae fusion,... acoustic rock, pop punk, and indie rock. Former Lookout bands that have since achieved major label success include Green Day and The Donnas. Lookout became famous for releasing albums that featured a very distinctive pop punk sound including bands such as Screeching Weasel, The Mr T Experience, The Queers, Green Day, Sweet Baby, Squirtgun, The Wanna-Bes and others. In recent years, a number of Lookout recording artists have ended their dealings with the label, rescinding their master rights from the label and re-issuing albums on other labels. These bands have cited various reasons including non-renewal of licensing agreements, distribution problems, and breach of contract over unpaid royalties.

Adeline Records is a record label which was formed in Oakland, California in late 1997. It is co-owned by Billie Joe Armstrong, lead singer of Green Day, his wife Adrienne Armstrong, and Jim Thiebaud, professional skateboarder. Armstrong's close friend and bandmate, Jason White currently oversees... the day-to-day operation of the label, and Green Day's manager, Pat Magnarella, has recently agreed to deal with Adeline's record label. Adeline Records was named after a street that runs through Berkeley and North Oakland, California. Adeline Records also sells clothing for men and women as well as other clothing, providing advertising for the label. The range is called "Adeline Street" and includes clothes , accessories and jewellery for men, women, and children. The Adeline street logo is a skull and crossbones with a heart in the center of the crossed bones in pink for women and khaki for men.

Recess Records is an independent record label founded in 1989 with the release of F.Y.P's Extra Credit, an 11 song 7-inch record. Label founder Todd Congelliere originally created the label as a vehicle to release F.Y.P's material. Congelliere promoted Extra Credit by running classified ads in... Berkeley based Maximum Rocknroll fanzine and going to skateboard contests. He quickly sold his initial pressing of 500 copies. In between touring the U.S., Europe, and Japan, Congelliere began releasing records for fellow punk rock and DIY bands, eventually having a roster of close to 20 artists on his label. Pinhead Gunpowder, fronted by Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, announced in April 2008 that a new 7" single from the band will be released on Recess Records in late May 2008.

Heavy metal is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the Midlands of the United Kingdom and in the... United States. With roots in blues rock and psychedelic rock, the bands that created heavy metal developed a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness. Heavy metal lyrics and performance styles are generally associated with masculinity and machismo. The first heavy metal bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple eventually attracted large audiences, though many were critically reviled , a status common throughout the history of the genre. In the mid-1970s Judas Priest helped spur the genre's evolution by discarding much of its blues influence; Motörhead introduced a punk rock sensibility and an increasing emphasis on speed. Bands in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal such as Iron Maiden followed in a similar vein. Before the end of the decade, heavy metal fans became known as "metalheads" or "headbangers".
