The Met Center was an indoor arena that stood in Bloomington, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis. The arena, which was completed in 1967 just to the... north of Metropolitan Stadium, seated 15,000. It was best known as the home of the Minnesota North Stars of the NHL from 1967-1993. For its first 15 years, its official name was the Metropolitan Sports Center; the more familiar shorter name was adopted in 1982. The Met's other tenants included the ABA's Minnesota Muskies, which played just one season before moving to Miami. They were replaced by the Minnesota Pipers, who also played only one season. The North American Soccer League Minnesota Kicks played two indoor seasons at the Met from 1979 to 1981. The MISL Minnesota Strikers played indoor soccer at the Met Center from 1984-1988. The Boys' High School Hockey Tournament was also held there 1969-1975. The arena also held entertainment-related shows, including the very first performance of Sesame Street Live in September 1980. The Met Center was considered to be one of the finest arenas in the NHL for many years, both for its sightlines, and its ice surface.

The Gideon H. Pond House is a historic house in Bloomington, Minnesota. It is part of the Pond-Dakota Mission Park, which also includes the Oak Grove... Mission site , a cemetery, and the remains of the Pond family farm and orchards. The site is significant within the history of the Minnesota River valley, the Dakota tribe, and Bloomington. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Gideon Hollister Pond and his brother Samuel came to Minnesota with a mission to teach Christianity to the Indians and to teach them agriculture. The Ponds received permission in 1834 from Major Lawrence Taliaferro, the Indian agent at Fort Snelling, to establish a mission school near Lake Calhoun, where a band of Dakota spent their summers. Pond started work on writing a Dakota language dictionary. After a war broke out between the Dakota and the Ojibwa in 1839, the band of Dakota moved to a village near the Minnesota River, and Gideon Pond moved with them. He established a mission along the river bluffs.

He has described himself as a "geeky kid from Minnesota who likes to draw cartoons." He is currently directing an upcoming animated feature, set for release on May 30, 2014, and described as "an inventive new film that explores a world that everyone knows, but no one has seen: inside the human mind." Docter was born in Bloomington, Minnesota, growing up introverted and socially isolated, preferring to work alone and having to remind himself to connect with others. He often played in the creek beside his house, pretending to be Indiana Jones and acting out scenes.

Mark Daniel Parrish is an American professional ice hockey right winger in the Ottawa Senators organization. He has played 10 seasons in the NHL for... the Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, Dallas Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning and Buffalo Sabres Parrish, a native of Bloomigton, Minnesota, attended Bloomington Jefferson High School and won two high school State Championships with the Jaguars in 1993 and 1994. Upon graduating from high school, Parrish joined the St. Cloud State Huskies of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association . After recording 30 points in 39 games as a freshman, Parrish was drafted in the third round, 79th overall, by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. Parrish returned to the St. Cloud for one more season, then decided to forego his final two years of collegiate hockey to join the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League . A WHL West First All-Star in his only year of major junior, he scored at a goal-per-game pace with the Thunderbirds as team captain and accumulated 92 points in 54 games.

Howard Hoagland "Hoagy" Carmichael was an American composer, pianist, singer, actor, and bandleader. He is best known for composing the music for... "Stardust", "Georgia On My Mind", "The Nearness of You", and "Heart and Soul", four of the most-recorded American songs of all time. Alec Wilder, in his study of the American popular song, concluded that Hoagy Carmichael was the "most talented, inventive, sophisticated and jazz-oriented" of the hundreds of writers composing pop songs in the first half of the 20th century. Born in Bloomington, Indiana, Carmichael was the only son of Howard Clyde Carmichael, of Scottish ancestry, and Lida Mary . He was named Hoagland after a circus troupe "The Hoaglands" who stayed at the Carmichael house during his mother's pregnancy. Howard was a horse-drawn taxi driver and electrician, and Lida a versatile pianist who played accompaniment at silent movies and for parties. The family moved frequently, as Howard sought better employment for his growing family. At six, Carmichael started to sing and play the piano, absorbing easily his mother's keyboard skills.

R. Brandon Johnson is an American actor and TV host. He currently co-stars as dance show host Gary Wilde on the Disney Channel original series Shake... It Up. R. Brandon Johnson got his first big break on the small screen playing the recurring character Dr. Michael McBain on the ABC Daytime series One Life To Live in 2003, playing the role until 2004. Johnson returned to the series in 2007 and in 2008 in the recurring role of Chuck Wilson III, later also playing the character's father Chuck Wilson, Jr. in a 1968 flashback storyline. Johnson appeared in 3 episodes of the Disney Channel original series Hannah Montana as Brian Winters, the quirky host of a fictional series called Singing with the Stars.
