This extraordinarily well-reviewed first novel introduces Scotland Yard's Inspector Thomas Lynley and his assistant, Barbara Havers, as they investigate a daughter's brutal murder by her deeply religious father.
Review: Not great by itself, but there are some awesome books in this series, and this book gives a good foundation for understanding the characters.
Review: A bit too much of too much for a first novel, but still a good story, with plenty of depth and twists.
Review: Recommended with reservations--readable, but annoyingly derivative.
