Bossier City

Harrah's Louisiana Downs is a horse racing track and racino located in Bossier City, Louisiana. Louisiana Downs opened in 1974. It was built by... shopping center developer Edward J. DeBartolo Sr., a longtime supporter of horse racing; it was third race track he developed, along with Thistledown and Remington Park. Harrah's Entertainment purchased the track in 2002. The track is home to the Grade II Super Derby, a race run each September since 1980 at the classic United States stakes distance of 1¼ miles . The race often attracts winners and top finishers from the season's American Classic Races races. The Thoroughbred meet takes place from early May through October. A quarter horse meet is held from January through March. The casino features 1,300 slot machines.

Jared Joseph Leto is an American actor, director, producer, musician, and occasional model. Alexander Pourteau, also spelled Alexander Porteau, is an American professional wrestler best known for his stint with the World Wrestling... Federation as Alex "The Pug" Pourteau between 1996 and 1997. Alex Pourteau was trained by Jim Star and Skandor Akbar, before he began to wrestle for World Class Championship Wrestling between 1988 and 1989. Although Pourteau won no championship gold he did get a break under the tutelage of Skandor Akbar. After wrestling for WCCW in Dallas, Texas; Pourteau left WCCW for both the United States Wrestling Association and World Championship Wrestling in 1989 Pourteau remained with both for one year, leaving in 1990. Pourteau again did not win championship gold and in 1991 began wrestling for World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico and the Global Wrestling Federation. Pourteau, working for the GWF, won their Global Wrestling Federation Light Heavyweight Championship on four occasions. His first reign began on July 31, 1992 when he defeated Terry Simms. He would lose the title to Mike Dahl on October 23, 1991; after winning the World Wrestling Council World Junior Heavyweight Championship.

Shannon Leto is an American drummer and an occasional actor. He is the older brother of musician and actor Jared Leto; both are part of the rock... band 30 Seconds to Mars. Shannon Leto was born in Bossier City, Louisiana. He has been playing drums since 1975, and currently plays in the band 30 Seconds to Mars, whose singer is his younger brother Jared Leto. Some of Shannon's favorite drummers include John Bonham, Roger Taylor, Dan Lamirand, Stewart Copeland, Keith Moon, Nick Mason, and Lars Ulrich, all of whom he notes as influencing his own playing style. With the band, he practices six to seven hours a day. In an interview with Modern Drummer magazine in February 2006, he stated: "Rehearsing that much has helped to build up my stamina and make my playing more precise". He has also said that he doesn't like playing to tape or to a loop, and prefers the more organic way of doing things, experimenting with electronics the band creates on their own. Bob Ezrin, who helped produce 30 Seconds to Mars's debut self-titled album, referred to Leto as "one of the most inventive drummers I've worked with.

Jesse Winchester is a musician and songwriter who was born and raised in the southern United States. To avoid the Vietnam War draft he moved to... Canada in 1967, which is where and when he began his career as a solo artist. His highest charting recordings were of his own tunes, "Yankee Lady" in 1970 and "Say What" in 1981. He became a Canadian citizen in 1973, gained amnesty in the U.S. in 1977 and resettled there in 2002. Winchester is probably most well known as a songwriter, with his works being recorded by many notable artists, including Patti Page, Elvis Costello, Jimmy Buffett, Joan Baez, Anne Murray, Reba McEntire, The Everly Brothers and Emmylou Harris. A number of these recordings have had success on various charts. Born in Bossier City, Louisiana, Winchester was raised in northern Mississippi and the city of Memphis, Tennessee. He attended Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, graduating in 1966. Upon receiving his draft notice the following year, Winchester moved to Montreal, Quebec to avoid military service. Winchester had begun playing guitar in bands while still a high school student.
