Claire van der Boom is a Logie Award winning Australian film and television actress of Dutch ancestry. Internationally, she is best known for her... appearance as Stella in the third episode of the HBO miniseries The Pacific, and her recurring role playing the ex-wife of Det. Danny Williams in the 2010 remake of Hawaii Five-0. Van der Boom was born in Broome, Western Australia. She attended Presbyterian Ladies' College in Perth, where she studied drama, graduating in 1999. She also graduated from Sydney's National Institute of Dramatic Art in 2005. She is of Dutch descent. Following graduation, van der Boom appeared in the Australian TV series Love My Way and East West 101. Her first major role in a feature film was in The Square, which was directed by Nash Edgerton and screened at the Sydney Film Festival in June 2008. She had a prominent role in episode 3 of the Steven Spielberg-produced mini-series The Pacific. This 10-part series, which is a follow-up to the critically acclaimed Band of Brothers, was largely filmed in Australia and was released internationally in March 2010.

Brandon Walters is an Indigenous Australian child actor known for his performance as Nullah in the 2008 film Australia. Walters was diagnosed with... leukemia at the age of six, but overcame the cancer after spending a year in a Perth hospital in 2003. Australia director Baz Luhrmann had been searching for a young aboriginal boy to fill the role of "Nullah" for over twelve months when one of the film's casting directors saw Walters with his father at a Broome swimming pool in 2007; he also responded to an Australia-wide radio callout for auditions. He later received a letter from Luhrmann saying that he was "very, very interested" in him. Walters, who had never before left Western Australia, and a group of other boys who had auditioned for the role were flown to Sydney, New South Wales to attend acting workshops at Fox Studios Australia. He and his family went camping with Luhrmann at Broome's Eighty Mile Beach, which was when Walters decided to take the role and become involved in the film. When Walters joined the cast, he had never heard of Nicole Kidman or Hugh Jackman, the film's stars.
