For the 2007 horror film by Robert Kurtzman, see Buried Alive Buried Alive is a 1990 film, directed by Gerard Kikoine and based on the work of Edgar Allan Poe. It stars Donald Pleasence and John Carradine in his final performance. A young woman goes to teach at the Ravenscroft Institute, a girls' school overrun by ants and staffed by various ex-mental patients. Spurred on by a series of horrific hallucinations, she begins to investigate the mysterious disappearances of several students. No plans have been announced by MGM for a DVD release.
