Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett , was an English singer-songwriter, guitarist and painter, best remembered as a founding member of the band Pink Floyd. He... was the lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter during the band's psychedelic years, providing major musical and stylistic direction in their early work, including their name. He left the group in 1968 amid speculations of mental illness exacerbated by drug use, and was briefly hospitalised. Besides being a pioneer in psychedelic rock with his expressive guitar playing and imaginative compositions, Barrett was also a pioneer in the space rock and psychedelic folk genres. He was active in music for only about seven years, recording four singles, the debut album , plus several unreleased songs with Pink Floyd; and a single and two albums , as a solo musician, before going into self-imposed seclusion lasting more than thirty years. In his post-musician life, he continued with his painting and dedicated himself to gardening, never to return to the public eye. He died in 2006.

David Jon Gilmour, CBE, D.M. is an English rock musician and multi-instrumentalist who is best known as the guitarist, one of the lead singers and... main songwriters in the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is estimated that as of 2011, the group has sold over 230 million albums worldwide, including 74.5 million units sold in the United States. In addition to his work with Pink Floyd, Gilmour has worked as a producer for a variety of artists, and has enjoyed a successful career as a solo artist. Gilmour has been actively involved with many charities over the course of his career. In 2003, he was appointed CBE for his charity work and was awarded with the Outstanding Contribution title at the 2008 Q Awards. In 2011, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him No. 14 in their list of the greatest guitarists of all time. Gilmour was born in Cambridge, England. His father, Douglas Gilmour, was a senior lecturer in zoology at the University of Cambridge and his mother, Sylvia , was a teacher and film editor who raised her family at Grantchester Meadows, later immortalised by a Roger Waters song on Pink Floyd's Ummagumma.

As a film director and producer, he won two Academy Awards for Gandhi in 1982. He has also won four BAFTA Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. He is the elder brother of naturalist and broadcaster David Attenborough. His eldest daughter and one of his grandchildren were killed in the Indian Ocean tsunami on 26 December 2004. Attenborough was born in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, the eldest of three sons of Mary Attenborough a founding member of the Marriage Guidance Council, and Frederick Levi Attenborough, a scholar and academic administrator who was a don at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and wrote a standard text on Anglo-Saxon law. Attenborough was educated at Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys in Leicester and at RADA.

Richard Garriott de Cayeux is a video game developer and entrepreneur. He is also known as his alter egos Lord British in Ultima and General British... in Tabula Rasa. A well-known figure in the video game industry, Garriott was originally a game designer and programmer and now engages in various aspects of computer game development and business. On October 12, 2008, Garriott launched aboard Soyuz TMA-13 to the International Space Station as a self-funded tourist, returning 12 days later aboard Soyuz TMA-12. Garriott founded a new video game development and publishing company in 2009, called Portalarium. In 2011 he was married and changed his name to Richard Garriott de Cayeux. Garriott was born in Cambridge, England to American parents, and was raised in Nassau Bay, Texas, United States. He is the son of scientist Owen K. Garriott, who became an astronaut and flew with Skylab 3 and Space Shuttle mission STS-9. At Clear Creek High School, he convinced the school to let him create a self-directed course in programming, in which he created fantasy computer games on the school's teletype machines.

Jeremy Philip Northam is an English actor. Most recently, he starred in the now-canceled CBS drama Miami Medical. Northam was born in Cambridge, as the youngest of four siblings. His mother, Rachel , was a potter and professor of economics, and his father, John Northam, was a professor of literature and theatre, as well as being an Ibsen specialist and teacher . Northam was educated at Bristol Grammar School and Bedford College, University of London, and trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He married Canadian film/television make-up artist Liz Moro in April 2005, though they later divorced. Northam performed at the Royal National Theatre – he replaced Daniel Day-Lewis in the role of Hamlet , and won the Olivier Award in 1990 for "most promising newcomer" for his performance in The Voysey Inheritance.

Elizabeth Jane 'Liz' Barker is a television presenter on British television. She has one younger sister, Suzanne and is a distant relative of... guitarist Dave Hill. Born in Cambridge, England, Barker grew up in the village of Oakington, near Cambridge, and attended Impington Village College before undertaking a philosophy degree at the University of Southampton. After this was completed, she became a runner for independent production company Lion TV, a researcher, and eventually the sports presenter for BBC Choice programme Backstage. She was also previously a Librarian. On 23 June 2000, Barker joined the children's television programme Blue Peter. During her six years there, Liz reported from Vietnam, Morocco, Brazil, Austria, Greece, India and the US. Her adventures have included lawn mower racing, paragliding, walking a circus high-wire and cleaning windows at London's Canary Wharf tower. On 25 May 2004, Barker announced that she was pregnant with her first child, by husband Michael Todd.

Matthew James Bellamy is an English musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the lead vocalist, lead guitarist, pianist,... and main songwriter of the rock band Muse. Bellamy's father, George, was rhythm guitarist in the 1960s pop group The Tornados, who were the first British band to have a United States number one song, with "Telstar". "Knights of Cydonia", a single from Muse's fourth album Black Holes and Revelations, is often cited as a tribute to that song, with its space rock sound and accompanying video depicting a cowboy's quest through a human landscape. Bellamy's mother, Marilyn, was born in Belfast, and moved to England in the 1970s. On her first day in England she met George, who was at the time working as a taxi driver in London. They later moved to Cambridge, where Matthew's older brother Paul was born, followed a couple of years later by Matthew himself. Bellamy started playing the piano at age 6 and guitar when he was 14. In the mid-1980s, the family moved to Teignmouth, Devon. After the divorce of Bellamy's parents, he moved in with his grandmother, who pushed him towards learning to play the guitar at the age of 14.
