Fawcett Stadium is a football stadium in Canton, Ohio. The stadium was officially dedicated in 1938. Fawcett Stadium is named for John A. Fawcett.... Mr. Fawcett was a former member of the Canton Board of Education and a well-known athlete. He died of pneumonia at the age of 44, a few years before the stadium was built. The stadium was built from 1937-1939 at an estimated cost of $500,000. The federal government in the form of man power, the WPA, paid for $400,000 while a school board bond issue paid for the materials. The stadium originally seated 15,000 and was the largest high school stadium in the country at that time. On the grounds of the facility was a park, aptly named "Stadium Park". This park still exists although presently is much more disjointed from the stadium as part of the park was used as the site of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and also because what is left of the park is separated from Fawcett Stadium by Interstate 77. Fawcett Stadium was constructed as a replacement for League Field, the city's previous stadium. The stadium seats around 22,400.

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1953 and completed in 1954, the John and Syd Dobkins House is one of three Wright-designed Usonian houses in... Canton, Ohio. Located farther east than the Nathan Rubin Residence and the Ellis A. Feiman House, it is set back from the road, has tall, thin casement windows and prominent doors that rise to nearly the roofline. Its distinctive geometric design module based upon an equilateral triangle reflects Wright's Usonian design philosophy. An apprentice came from Taliesin to oversee construction of the houses in Canton. That was standard operating procedure for Wright. It was also standard that he would get a topographical map of a site before he began a design. The house was built on a five-acre parcel that was once a cornfield. Along with a design for the house, Wright created an ingenious planting plan for the property which featured 14 pin oak trees planted in perfect relation to the structure.

League Field is a former American football stadium located in Canton, Ohio. The stadium was home to the Canton Bulldogs of the National Football... League from 1905 to 1926. It had a capacity of 8,000 spectators. The stadium was replaced in the late 1930s by the current Fawcett Stadium.

The Canton Memorial Civic Center is a multi-purpose arena in Canton, Ohio, USA. It was built in 1951. It was the home to the Canton Legends arena... football team and Canton Invaders indoor soccer team and Ohio Aviators of the American Basketball Association. The Canton Memorial Civic Center is owned by the City of Canton and can hold up to 5,200 guests in the arena, and up to 600 guests in the McKinley Room. It is large enough that it hosts several concerts each year, and yet intimate enough that it host many private and community events such as several of the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame festival events. In the 1980s and 1990s, it hosted many professional wrestling shows promoted by the National Wrestling Alliance and the World Wrestling Federation, including several broadcast episodes of WCW's Monday Nitro and the WWF's Monday Night Raw. On March 24, 2007, it held a "Road to WrestleMania 23" house show for World Wrestling Entertainment. It also held a SmackDown! house show, on January 5, 2008 and an ECW/Smackdown house show on August 31st, 2009. On October 27, 2008, Barack Obama held a Closing Address Rally to a crowd of over 4,000.

Catholic High School in 1963, received his B.A. in political science from the University of Notre Dame in 1967, and received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1978. Page is particularly notable for the fact that he is both a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and an Associate Justice with the Minnesota Supreme Court. Page is married to Diane Sims Page and is the father of four children, Nina, Georgi, Justin and Kamie. Page attended and graduated from Central Catholic High School, Canton, OH, 1964. He starred in several sports and excelled in football. Following high school, Page attended the University of Notre Dame, where he led the school’s storied football program to a national championship in 1966. That same year, Page was named a college football All-American for his achievements on the field. He was presented with one of the 1992 Silver Anniversary Awards for achieving personal distinction since his graduation.

In January 2009, Discovery Communications announced that Zahn had entered into a development deal for a newsmagazine series, On the Case with Paula Zahn. Zahn was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to a schoolteacher/artist mother and an IBM sales executive father. She initially grew up in Canton, Ohio, with her parents and three siblings. The family relocated to Naperville, Illinois, as her father's job as required them to move frequently. She once joked that "IBM" really stood for "I've been moved". She attended Washington Junior High School in Naperville and later graduated from Naperville Central High School in 1974. She also competed in several beauty pageants, making the semi-finals of the 1973 Miss Teenage America Pageant.

Born Elizabeth Jean Peters in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Elizabeth and Gerald Peters, a laundry manager. Raised on a small farm in Canton, Peters attended East Canton High School and the University of Michigan and later Ohio State University, where she studied to become a teacher and majored in literature. While studying for a teaching degree at Ohio State, she entered the Miss Ohio State Pageant in the fall of 1945. From the twelve finalists, Peters won. Sponsored by photographer Paul Robinson of the "House of Portraits", her grand prize was a screen test with 20th Century-Fox. As her agent, Robinson accompanied her to Hollywood, and helped her secure a seven-year contract with Fox.

Matthew Arnold Thiessen is a Canadian-American musician, known for being co-founder, lead singer, guitarist, pianist, and primary songwriter for the... Christian rock band Relient K. With Relient K, he has released six full-length albums, including three that were certified Gold, and three that peaked in the top twenty on the Billboard 200. Outside of his work with Relient K, Thiessen maintains a low-profile side project called Matthew Thiessen and the Earthquakes. In 2009, he co-produced and collaborated on Owl City's album Ocean Eyes. He co-manages an imprint of Gotee, Mono Vs Stereo, along with Matt Hoopes. He has done guest vocals for Deas Vail, John Reuben, Owl City, The Fold, and Run Kid Run, to name a few. He also works as a producer, along with Mark Lee Townsend. Thiessen founded Relient K in 1998, with guitarist Matt Hoopes, and bassist Brian Pittman, and recorded the demo All Work & No Play the same year. The recording attracted the interest of Toby McKeehan who signed the band to his label Gotee Records. Between the years 2000 and 2003, Gotee released three full-length albums, one Christmas album, and four EPs with Relient K.

Matthew Ryan Hoopes is the lead guitarist of Relient K, a Christian rock band that was formed in 1998. Hoopes has played guitar and performed... backing vocals for Relient K for twelve years. Hoopes has slowly developed into the band's lead guitarist over the years, despite Matt Thiessen playing lead a lot in the band's early days. Thiessen is playing more piano for the band now, whereas Hoopes' primary duty for the band is guitar. Along with Matt Thiessen and Brian Pittman, Hoopes co-founded the band during his junior year of high school at Canton McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio. He met Thiessen when they were in the Church choir together in second grade. Matt Thiessen once said in the book The Complex Infrastructure Known as the Female Mind that Hoopes and Brian Pittman were the athletes in high school, and while they were friends with Thiessen, they were also probably considered cooler than Thiessen. While lead singer Matt Thiessen writes almost every song, Hoopes wrote the song "Those Words Are Not Enough" on The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek.

Jeffrey Mylett was an American actor and songwriter. Born in North Canton, Ohio, he attended Hoover High School there, and studied theater at... Carnegie Mellon University. He appeared in the original off-Broadway production of Godspell. During its initial two-week run at La MaMa in New York City, the show featured songs by cast members, including two by Mylett. When a team of producers interested in presenting the show in an open-ended commercial transfer brought in songwriter Stephen Schwartz to compose a new score, all the original songs were replaced, except for "By My Side" by Jay Hamburger and Peggy Gordon. He also appeared in the off-Broadway musical Thoughts , written by Godspell castmate Lamar Alford, and the Broadway musical The Magic Show , in which he was Doug Henning's standby and also played the role during Henning's vacations. During his scheduled appearances in the show, the character's name was changed from "Doug" to "Jeff." He recreated his stage role in the film version of Godspell , and also appeared in the films Money Talks , Brewster's Millions and My Man Adam .

Peggy Ann Garner was an American actress. A successful child actor, Garner played her first film role in 1938 and won the Academy Juvenile Award for... her work in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn . Featured roles in such films as Black Widow did not further her attempts to establish herself in mature film roles, and although she progressed to theatrical work, she made relatively few acting appearances as an adult. Born in Canton, Ohio, Garner's mother pushed her into the limelight and entered her in talent quests while Garner was still a child. By 1938 she had made her first film appearance, and over the next few years she appeared in several more films, including Jane Eyre and The Keys of the Kingdom . She reached the height of her success at the age of 13 in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn , winning an Academy Juvenile Award largely on the basis of this performance. Like many child performers, Garner was unable to make a successful transition into adult film roles. She guest-starred steadily in television roles, beginning in the early 1950s and continuing through the 1960s.

Brian Lee Pittman is an American musician most notable as the former bassist for the Christian rock band Relient K, of which he was a founding... member. He has also played bass for the Christian metal band Inhale Exhale, and owns a landscaping company called "Lawnsharks." Pittman married on August 30, 2008 and currently resides in Canton, Ohio. Pittman played bass for Relient K from the band's beginning in 1998 until Bleach's farewell show on August 29, 2004. He contributed to 13 Relient K projects, including five full-length albums, four EPs, a two-track single, and two Christmas albums. The last album he contributed to was Mmhmm , along with long time bandmates Matt Thiessen, Matt Hoopes, and Dave Douglas. Some people think the song "For the Band", which is found on Relient K's Employee of the Month EP, was written about his leaving, but that is unlikely, as that song was recorded two years before his departure. Though he left the band in August 2004, he returned to play with the band during their CD release show for Mmhmm on November 1, 2004 at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio.

Todd Alan Blackledge is a former American football quarterback in both the NCAA and National Football League. In college, he led the Penn State... Nittany Lions to a national championship; and, as a pro, he played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers . Blackledge is currently a television broadcasting football analyst. Blackledge attended Princeton High School in Princeton, NJ, from 1975–76, until he returned to the Canton area to finish his high school career at North Canton Hoover High School in North Canton, OH, from which he graduated in 1979. Blackledge was a three-year starter at Penn State, where he guided the Nittany Lions to 31–5 record including a national championship in 1982. Following the 1982 season, he won the Davey O'Brien Award for best quarterback in the nation. Blackledge was selected in the first round of the 1983 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, where he played for five seasons before ending his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers .
