George Wallington was a highly regarded American bop pianist and composer. From 1943 to 1953 he played with Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Marsala, Charlie... Parker, Serge Chaloff, Allan Eager, Kai Winding, Terry Gibbs, Brew Moore, Al Cohn, Gerry Mulligan, Zoot Sims, Red Rodney, and Lionel Hampton, and recorded as a leader for Savoy and Blue Note . From 1954 to 1960 he led groups in New York that included newcomers Donald Byrd, Jackie McLean, and Phil Woods, recording as leader with these musicians for the Prestige and Atlantic labels. In 1960 he retired to work in the family business, returning to music in 1984 and recording three albums. His style is often compared to the legendary Earl "Bud" Powell. His best known compositions are the bop standards "Lemon Drop" and "Godchild". He can be heard playing Lady Fair on the Verve release Metronome All-Stars 1956.

Corey Lynch is an American football safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in... the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at Appalachian State. Corey graduated from Evangelical Christian School in Fort Myers, Florida. Lynch's father, Brian was his coach at this school. As of 2012, Brian Lynch is still the football coach at Evangelical. Corey Lynch played collegiate ball at Appalachian State University from 2003 to 2007, helping his Mountaineers win 3 back-to-back national championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007 . He is a three-time All-American and is perhaps best known for blocking Jason Gingell's field goal attempt in the waning seconds of 2007 Appalachian State vs. Michigan football game, in which the 1-AA Mountaineers upset the No. 5 nationally ranked Michigan Wolverines on September 1, 2007. He currently holds the NCAA FCS record for passes defended at 52 and finished his collegiate level play with 358 career tackles.
