Carlisle

Carlisle Indian Industrial School was an Indian boarding school in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1879 at Carlisle, Pennsylvania by Captain... Richard Henry Pratt, the school was the first off-reservation boarding school, and it became a model for Indian boarding schools in other locations. It was one of a series of 19th-century efforts by the United States government to assimilate Native American children from 140 tribes into the majority culture. The goal of total assimilation can be summed up in the school's slogan: "To civilize the Indian, get him into civilization. To keep him civilized, let him stay." The late 19th century was also a period of continued expansion of public education across the country, with the Reconstruction era legislatures having created public school systems in the South for the first time, and new northern towns' founding schools to keep up with the settlement of the Midwest and West, as well as expanding immigrant populations in industrial cities.

Jackson Bostwick is an American actor best known for playing Captain Marvel in the first season of the Shazam! television series in 1974-75.... Bostwick controversially was fired from Shazam! two episodes into the second season and replaced by John Davey. Bostwick failed to show up for a day's shooting, and the producers accused him of holding out for a higher salary. Bostwick explained he had sustained an injury during the previous day's filming and had gone to seek medical treatment. He successfully sued Filmation Enterprises, which was forced to pay him for the remainder of his contract, including the entire second season. Bostwick's Italian-American father was a well-known doctor in Montgomery, Alabama. In the early 1990s, Bostwick's father fell ill, and Bostwick returned to Montgomery. He taught theater at Auburn University at Montgomery, and also directed several plays, including The Ballad of the Sad Cafe. He is the founder the L.A. Film Group. Bostwick met his wife, Elizabeth, in Las Vegas, where she was performing. He is trained in Jeet-Kune-Do and Wing-Chun Kung-Fu.
