CEvin Key

PlatEAU is an electronic music project featuring cEvin Key and Phil Western. The project resembles a very loose approach to the Download project... featuring the same members. The song names and album titles refer to the coffeeshop culture of Amsterdam in The Netherlands implying a "trip" through their musical voyages. The album art also reflects this concept with imagery on their first release on Hypnotic Records in 1997, Music for Grass Bars. This release had a special CD jewel case in order to create a holographic-motion effect with the cover art insert. The genre is most closely related to IDM, experimental, techno and trip-hop.

Download is a Canadian electronic music group formed by Dwayne Goettel and cEvin Key of Skinny Puppy in 1994. The initial lineup also included Off... & Gone's Phil Western and Mark Spybey of Dead Voices on Air, but has since been particularly fluid, with Key and Western being the only constant members following Goettel's death. Download's music has been described as post-industrial, drawing from the band's genesis as part of Skinny Puppy but also sharing common stylistic ground with such artists as Aphex Twin and Autechre. The primary instrumentation common throughout their albums is a blend of synthesizers and sampled instruments; the music is particularly centered on elements of percussion and rhythm. Other artists that have been involved are Genesis P. Orridge, Anthony Valcic, Bill Van Rooy, and Ken Marshall. Earlier releases frequently included vocal elements and lyrics, but since III their work has been strictly instrumental. In the first era of Download's career, the band's sound was an Experimental Industrial style which featured vocals by Mark Spybey and guest vocals by Genesis P. Orridge.

Doubting Thomas is an industrial band formed by two members of Skinny Puppy: cEvin Key and the late Dwayne Goettel. It is considered a Skinny Puppy... side project. The band shares its name with an American roots band, to whom they have no relation. Doubting Thomas released one album, an EP, and several other songs on compilations. Nearly all their music is instrumental.

The Nettwerk Music Group is a Canadian record label and distribution company, based in Vancouver. Established in 1984 by Terry McBride, Mark Jowett, Tom Ferris and Cal Stephenson, initially to distribute recordings by the band Moev, the label subsequently expanded to release albums by a wide... variety of Canadian and international alternative rock acts, ultimately becoming one of the largest and most influential independent record labels in Canada. Initially specializing in electronic music genres such as alternative dance and industrial, the label also became a powerful player in pop and rock in the late 1980s and early 1990s with the mainstream success of artists such as The Grapes of Wrath and the label's best-known artist, Sarah McLachlan. As a record company Nettwerk has released over 200 full-length albums and sold over 150 million albums in its 25-year history. On June 9, 2010, Nettwerk announced that it would depart from Sony Music and their records would now be distributed by WMG's Alternative Distribution Alliance. In 2010 Nettwerk celebrated 25 years in music with the release of the book, Nettwerk: 25 Years of Music We Love.

SPV GmbH is an independent German record label. Founded on January 1, 1984, it has slowly grown to be one of the largest independent distributors and record labels worldwide. It also has several sublabels that it produces and distributes, including the heavy metal labels Steamhammer, Synthetic... Symphony, Oblivion, SPV Recordings/SPV America and Audiopharm. SPV's most successful artists include Sepultura, Kreator, Klaus Schulze, Rhapsody of Fire, Sodom, Evildead, Angra, Eric Burdon, Blackmore's Night, Whitesnake, Motörhead, Doro, Helloween, Kamelot, Iced Earth, Moonspell, Saxon, Monster Magnet, Type O Negative, Skinny Puppy and Judas Priest. The managing partner, Manfred Schütz, decided to submit an application to commence insolvency proceedings on 25 May 2009 – roughly equivalent to Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the USA. In response to this, on 27 May 2009, the District Court of Hannover appointed the attorney Manuel Sack as the provisional insolvency administrator.

Subconscious Communications is an independent record label based in Toluca Lake, California. Originating in Vancouver B.C., Canada, it was founded in 1993 by Dwayne Goettel of Skinny Puppy and Phil Western of Download. The label has been described as a "record label, musician collective, remix... team, 32-track digital studio, [and an] analogue synth museum." Dwayne Goettel and Phil Western founded Subconscious Records in 1993 to release a twelve inch under Goettel's side project Aduck and Phil's alias Philth. cEvin Key arbitrarily took over control of Subconscious Communications when Goettel died on 23 August 1995. Artists previously involved with Goettel and Key joined him to help with the label. Under the SubCon 'services' page hides two pages listing the competition results of the 2001 and 2002 Cannabis Cup competitions. The Cannibis Cup was an annual competition that only survived an additional year after its inception in 2001. Since the name contains SubCon, it is assumed that the competition was formed by Subconscious Communications. As of 2009, Subconscious Communications has released 44 albums under the label.
