Texas A&M University is a coeducational public research university located in College Station, Texas, United States. It is the flagship institution of the Texas A&M University System. The first public institution of higher education in Texas, the school opened on October 4, 1876 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. Caldwell is a city in Burleson County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,449 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Burleson County. It is part of the Bryan-College Station metropolitan area. In 1993, the Reeves-Womack House in Caldwell was added to the National Register of Historic... Places. The house was built in the latter 1890s by the merchant-banker William Reeves . He sold the late Victorian structure in 1907 to Mansell Lewis Womack a former Burleson County sheriff. Womack heirs owned the house, located at 405 Fox Steet, until 1957. Caldwell is the home of the Czech Heritage Museum, which is open to the public on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual Kolache Festival, a celebration of Czech heritage named for a type of pastry, is held in Caldwell the second weekend of September. Caldwell is located at 30°31′43″N 96°42′1″W / 30.52861°N 96.70028°W / 30.52861; -96.70028 . According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.4 square miles , all of it land. As of the census of 2010, there were 4,012 people, 1,322 households, and 938 families residing in the city.
