High Rise Bridge is a bascule drawbridge which carries a portion of the Hampton Roads Beltway designated as Interstate 64 across the Southern Branch... of the Elizabeth River in Chesapeake, Virginia. The twin spans of concrete and steel were completed in 1972, and are owned by the Virginia Department of Transportation . On Wednesday November 10, 2010 after the 2:30 opening the bridge was stuck in the up position causing widespread traffic delays.

Jordan Bridge was a tolled highway lift bridge which carried State Route 337 over the southern branch of the Elizabeth River from the City of... Portsmouth into the City of Chesapeake in South Hampton Roads, Virginia. Opened in 1928, it was privately built by an organization led by South Norfolk businessmen Wallace and Carl Jordan. It was later renamed the Jordan Bridge, principally to honor long-standing manager Carl M. Jordan. The oldest drawbridge in Virginia, the 80-year old bridge had reached the end of its useful life by 2008. Faced with diminishing returns on millions of dollars in needed maintenance and unknown reliability, it was permanently closed on November 8, 2008. A replacement bridge, to be built with 100% private funds, and paid for by tolls, was approved by Chesapeake City Council on January 27, 2009. The new South Norfolk Jordan Bridge was originally scheduled to be completed by July 2010, but is now expected to be completed in 2012. Originally known as the Norfolk-Portsmouth Bridge, the bridge was planned and financing organized by South Norfolk businessman Carl M. Jordan, who operated Jordan Brothers Lumber Co. with his brother Wallace.

Greenbrier Mall is a nearly 900,000 sq. ft. regional mall in Chesapeake, Virginia, in the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. The mall has a hillside... terrain, meaning entries exist on both upper and lower levels. It serves communities on the east coast in the states of Virginia and North Carolina. The mall currently has over 120 retailers, four anchors , several eateries at the mall's food court, several restaurants including Abuelo's, Jillian's, The Greene Turtle, and a Cinema Café dinner movie theater. In 2003, Greenbrier Mall underwent an extensive renovation. Dillard's, which previously occupied both the north and east anchor locations in the mall, consolidated both stores to the east end with a 160,000 square feet reconstruction. In addition, the mall received a new color scheme and its current "G" mall logo. A new anchor tenant JCPenney was expected to take over the vacated north anchor space. In April 2004, during the renovation, CBL & Associates acquired the mall from Gregory Greenfield & Associates, Ltd. for $102.5 million.

The Gallery at Military Circle, formerly Military Circle Mall, is an enclosed shopping mall in Norfolk, Virginia. Opened in 1970, it features... JCPenney, Macy's and Ross Dress for Less, along with a Cinemark movie theater and a Doubletree hotel, which closed in 2009. The mall is managed by Thor Equities since 2002. Military Circle Mall opened in 1970, developed by Harvey Lindsay Jr. Original tenants included J.B. Hunter , JCPenney, Smith & Welton, and Leggett, a division of Belk. Thalhimer's became Hecht's in 1992, and Macy's in 2006. Smith & Welton closed in 1990. Renovations in 1996 included the addition of skylights in the concourses, new entrances and a 600-seat food court. In 1998, Belk vacated the former Leggett building. A year later, then-owner Urban Retail began a renovation of the center, which included the addition of a Sears in the former Smith & Welton, returning Sears to Norfolk after its previous store in the city closed in 1993. A Cinemark movie theater also opened on the site of the former Leggett/Belk. Thor Equities bought the mall in 2002 and renamed it The Gallery at Military Circle while continuing mall-wide renovation.

David Wright is an American baseball player, who plays third base for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball. He was drafted by the Mets in... 2001, and made his Major League debut in 2004. Wright is a five-time All-Star, and won the Gold Glove Award and the Silver Slugger Award in 2007 and 2008. He also is a member of the 30-30 club, and holds the record for most career RBI and doubles as a Met. Wright was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia. Wright attended Hickory High School in Chesapeake, Virginia and worked extensively with Coach Nick Boothe of Virginia Wesleyan College. Wright was the 2001 Gatorade Virginia High School Player of the Year. Wright also earned All-State honors in 1999, 2000 and 2001 and was named Virginia All-State Player of the Year in 2001. Over his four-year career at Hickory, Wright hit .438 with 13 home runs and 90 RBI. Wright was signed by the New York Mets after being taken 38th overall during the 2001 First-Year Player Draft by the Mets. Prior to signing with the Mets, Wright initially planned to attend Georgia Tech and major in engineering.

Allen started wrestling in 1977 and... joined the National Wrestling Alliance, where he began competing for the Championship Wrestling from Florida and the Pacific Northwest Wrestling territories. While in the CWF, Allen would win the Global Tag Team Championship on five different occasions before then moving to Mid-South Wrestling. Upon debuting in Mid-South, Allen renamed himself to Magnum T.A. and adopted a character known as the "American Heart Throb", based on Allen's slight resemblance to actor Tom Selleck's television character Magnum, P.I.. Allen adopted the ring name after André the Giant suggested that he combine the Magnum name with the initials of his real name. After competing in Mid-South, he won the North American Heavyweight Championship, his first major title, after defeating Mr. Wrestling II on May 13, 1984. Magnum would hold the title for five months before he lost it to "The Cat" Ernie Ladd on October 16. On November 22, Magnum lost to Ladd via disqualification in a title rematch.

Christopher Michael "Chris" Richardson is an American singer-songwriter who was the fifth-place finalist on the sixth season of American Idol.... Richardson was born in Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe Hospital in Belgium to Phyllis and Danny Richardson. His father spent 20 years in the Air Force. Richardson moved to Chesapeake, Virginia, in 1999. He admitted during the March 6, 2007 edition of American Idol that he used to be overweight as a child and teenager. He has lost roughly forty pounds and has become more health conscious; it is reported that he was always motivating his fellow Idols to work out and care about their health and appearance. He graduated from Great Bridge High School in 2002 and studied music composition at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia, for a year, playing football there as well. He continued his musical studies at Tidewater Community College. Before Idol, Richardson was a kitchen supervisor for a Hooters restaurant. Chris plays guitar, drums and piano. His favorite male singers include Jason Mraz, JT, James Brown, and Michael Jackson.

Jared Antonio Farrow , better known by his stage name Jay Pharoah, is an American stand-up comedian and impressionist. He joined the cast of NBC's... Saturday Night Live in its thirty-sixth season, which began on September 25, 2010. Pharoah began doing impersonations at age 6, and cites Gilbert Gottfried's character in Aladdin, Iago, as his first voice, explaining, "My father put me in a talent competition a couple of months later, and out of the whole thing I got fifth place." In 2005, he graduated from Indian River High School in Chesapeake. One of his characters, Principal Daniel Frye, is heavily influenced by IRHS's current principal, James Frye. Pharoah has been performing stand-up comedy in community theaters and at comedy clubs in Virginia since he was 15. He at one point toured with Corey Holcomb and Charlie Murphy. He became known for his many celebrity impressions, including Barack Obama, Will Smith, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Eddie Murphy, Charlie Murphy, and Denzel Washington. Pharoah became an internet phenomenon when his impersonation of Barack Obama became widely seen on YouTube.
