Tyler Eugene Colvin is a Major League Baseball outfielder for the Colorado Rockies. Colvin played college baseball at Clemson University. Colvin was drafted by the Chicago Cubs 13th overall in the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft. He played in the Florida State League for the Class A-Advanced... Daytona Cubs in 2007 and 2009. Colvin was called up to the majors for the first time on September 21, 2009. He started the game and went 1 for 3 with a single and a sacrifice fly. After a strong spring in 2010, Colvin made the Cubs Opening Day roster. On April 8, 2010 against the Atlanta Braves, Colvin hit his first major league home run. Three nights later Colvin hit his first triple of his major league career against the Washington Nationals. On December 8, 2011, Colvin was traded along with DJ Lemahieu to the Colorado Rockies for Casey Weathers and Ian Stewart. On September 19, 2010, in a game against the Florida Marlins, Colvin was hit in the chest with a shard from a broken bat when scoring on a double by Welington Castillo. The piece of bat punctured Colvin's lung. Colvin was brought to the hospital and remained in stable condition.

Mark W. Pawelek is an American baseball player currently in the Cincinnati Reds organization. Pawelek was a four-time letterwinner in baseball with a win-loss record of 36-2. He set the Utah state mark for career strikeouts with 476. The Cubs took Pawelek 20th overall in the 2005 Major League... Baseball Draft. He signed the same day. Pawelek started his professional career in 2005 with the Arizona League Cubs before finishing the season with the Class-A Boise Hawks. In 2006 he remained in Class-A, finishing with a 2-5 record and 2.51 ERA in 15 starts. Pawelek logged 52 strikeouts in 61 innings and gave up one home run. Pawelek became a free agent at the end of the 2008 season. Pawelek injured his right, non-throwing arm, in 2007 after allegedly tripping over a PlayStation console while walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night. On May 23, 2009 Pawelek signed a Minor League deal with the Cincinnati Reds.

In 2008, the Brewers achieved their first postseason berth in the 26 years since their World Series appearance as the wildcard team in the National League.

Star players included brothers Harry and George Wright, Fred Walterman, and pitcher Asa Brainard. The 1869 Red Stockings made an eastern swing of 21 games and went undefeated.
