The Miami Dolphins are a professional American football team based in the Miami metropolitan area. The team is part of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League . The Dolphins play home games at Sun Life Stadium in the northern suburb of Miami Gardens,... and have their headquarters in Davie, Florida. The Dolphins team was founded by attorney & politician Joe Robbie, and actor/comedian Danny Thomas. They began play in the American Football League in 1966. The region had not possessed a professional football team since the days of the Miami Seahawks, who played in the All American Football Conference in 1946 before becoming the first incarnation of the Baltimore Colts. For the first few years the Dolphins full-time training camp and practice facilities were at Saint Andrew's School, a private boys boarding prep school in Boca Raton. In 1970 the Dolphins joined the NFL when the AFL–NFL merger occurred. The team made its first Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl VI, but lost to the Dallas Cowboys 24-3.

Arcadia is a city in DeSoto County, Florida, United States. The population was 6,604 as of the 2000 census. According to the U.S Census estimates of 2005, the city grew to 7,151. It is the county seat of DeSoto County; it is also DeSoto County's only incorporated community. On October 27, 2009,... President Barack Obama visited Arcadia. He became the first sitting president to do so. The city was devastated by Hurricane Charley on Friday, August 13, 2004. Arcadia is located at 27°13'N 81°52'W . According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.0 square miles , all but 0.25% of which is land. "The Rev. James Madison Hendry named the town in honor of Arcadia Albritton , a daughter of Thomas H. and Fannie Albritton, pioneer settlers. Arcadia had baked him a cake for his birthday and he appreciated it so much that he named the city after her." During the late 19th century Arcadia was the county seat of what would become many counties.
