The Orlando Magic is a professional basketball team based in Orlando, Florida. They play in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association and are currently coached by Stan Van Gundy. The franchise was founded in 1989 as an expansion franchise and has had... such notable NBA stars such as Shaquille O'Neal, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Tracy McGrady, Steve Francis, Dwight Howard, Hedo Türkoğlu, Vince Carter, Nick Anderson, Gilbert Arenas and Rashard Lewis throughout its young history. The franchise has also been in the playoffs for more than half of their existence . Orlando has been the most successful of the four expansion teams brought into the league in 1988 and 1989 in terms of winning percentage. As of 2011, they are the only team in the "big four" sports leagues to play in the city of Orlando. The Orlando Magic went to the NBA as an expansion franchise in 1989. A contest sponsored by Orlando Magic team officials and the local Orlando Sentinel newspaper allowed the community to suggest names for their new franchise.

Duke University is a private research university located in Durham, North Carolina, United States. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892. In 1924, tobacco and electric power industrialist James B. Mamou is a town in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 3,566 at the 2000 census. Mamou is located at 30°38′3″N 92°25′8″W / 30.63417°N 92.41889°W / 30.63417; -92.41889 . According to the United States... Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.4 square miles , all of it land. There are many stories regarding the origin of the name Mamou. One was the legendary Indian, Chief Mamou. It is certain that this vast prairie was known as Mamou Prairie as far back as the 18th century and that Anglo-Americans first called it 'Mammouth Prairie' because of its immense size. When the French came, they called it 'Mamou' for mammoth. The name "Mamou", contrary to folklore, is a family name found in France. Within this vast stretch of prairie, the town site of Mamou was platted in 1907 by Curley C. Duson of Eunice. He was president of the Mamou Town Site Company which opened an office on the corner of Seventh and Chestnut. Lot auctions were held weekly and lots were sold for $50. The original village covered one square mile. On January 11, 1911 Mamou was incorporated. Cotton was the major crop for many years on the prairie.
