The Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series provide PoE to allow easy connectivity to Ethernet-powered devices including Cisco IP phones and wireless access points. Cisco Catalyst 2960 PoE models comply with Cisco pre-standard PoE and IEEE 802.3af. PoE removes the need for wall power to each PoE-enabled device and eliminates the cost for additional electrical cable and circuits that would otherwise be necessary in IP phone and WLAN deployments. PoE switches also eliminate the need for power injectors and PoE mid-spans for powering IP devices.
