The Daniel Carter Beard Boyhood Home is a National Historic Landmark located in the Riverside Drive Historic District of Covington, Kentucky,... overlooking the Licking River, across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, Ohio. The two-story brick domicile, built in 1821 and one of the two oldest buildings in Kenton County, Kentucky, it was the boyhood home of Daniel Carter Beard, a founder of the Boy Scouts of America and their National Scout Commissioner from its 1910 founding to his death in 1941. Born in Cincinnati in 1850, Daniel Carter Beard's family moved to Covington, Kentucky when he was eleven years old. Growing up, he routinely heard stories of Daniel Boone. Beard so idolized Boone that Beard and his friends dubbed themselves the "Boone Scouts" and sought to emulate Boone. These Boone Scouts would engage in several activities, including sneaking past sentries of the various Union Army camps in town. This emulation led Beard to a life of camping, handiwork, and nature that foretold his later life. Beard would leave the house when he went to college, and moved to New York City following his graduation.

Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 16 East Fourth Street, at the northern end of the main commercial street in Covington, Kentucky, Madison... Avenue. This historic church was founded November 24, 1842, in a third floor of a brick building near the Covington market. The cornerstone of the first church was June 24, 1843 and the first service was on June 30, 1844. The church has served the people of Covington and Cincinnati, Ohio through wars and floods. The church is active today, with a large congregation at its Fourth and Madison Avenue location. The Rev. Nicolette Papanek is the Interim Rector while a search for a new permanent rector is underway. It is the second largest parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington. Trinity Episcopal Church was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 1, 1982. This was because it is an excellent example of how medieval techniques in architectural design affected Episcopal church building in the United States in the 19th Century, in a style known as Gothic Revival.

The Odd Fellows Hall in Covington, Kentucky is located at the northeast corner of Fifth Street and Madison Avenue. It was constructed in 1856 by the... Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge, and was the center of Covington's civic and political life for most of the Victorian era. When the American Civil War ended, victorious Union Gen. Ulysses S. Grant was honored with a reception there. In 1900, the body of William Goebel, the only U.S. governor to be assassinated in office, lay in state there, as an estimated 10,000 people filed past. In the 1950s, a roller skating rink filled the second-floor ballroom, famous for its 25-foot -high ceiling suspended by a truss system. In May 2002, a major fire almost destroyed the entire building. It was reduced to its front facade, back wall, and a three-story column of smoke and charred debris. A new team has restored the hall, with its first tenant taking occupancy in March 2006.

She bore a resemblance to actress Lillian Gish and began her career as a stand-in for Gish, most notably in the 1928 classic The Wind, a late silent film. Merkel appeared in a few films during the silent era, including the two-reel Love's Old Sweet Song made by Lee DeForest in his Phonofilm sound-on-film process, and starring Louis Wolheim and Donald Gallaher. However, she spent most of her time in New York City working on Broadway. Merkel returned to Hollywood and achieved her greatest success with the advent of "talkies". She played Ann Rutledge in the film Abraham Lincoln directed by D. W. Griffith. During the 1930s, Merkel became a popular second lead in a number of films, usually playing the wisecracking best friend of the heroine, supporting actresses such as Jean Harlow, Carole Lombard, Loretta Young, and Dorothy Lamour.

Roush was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame on April 27, 2006. In 2008, Roush was elected to the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and will be inducted on Sept. 13, 2010, in Novi.[1] Roush was born in Covington, Kentucky and grew up in Manchester, Ohio. He earned a Mathematics degree with a bachelors in physics from Berea College, and a masters in Scientific Mathematics from Eastern Michigan University. Roush worked at Ford after graduating in 1966, and left in 1970 to pursue his own company.

Lee Roy Reams is an American musical theatre actor, singer, dancer, choreographer, and director. Born in Covington, Kentucky, Reams earned a Master... of Arts degree and was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He made his Broadway debut in Sweet Charity in 1966. Reams was nominated for both the Tony and Drama Desk Awards as Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance in the original production of 42nd Street in 1980. He played the role of Frank Schultz in the 1989 Paper Mill Playhouse production of Show Boat, which was televised on Great Performances by PBS . Reams has appeared on concert stages and in cabarets throughout the country. At present he is serving as the resident director of the Theatre at Sea program sponsored by the Theatre Guild.
