Word Records is a Christian record label based in Nashville, Tennessee. It is a division of Word Entertainment which itself is co-owned by Warner Music Group and Curb Records. Word Entertainment consists of Word Records, Word Music , Word Music Publishing and Word Distribution. Word Records was... founded in Waco, Texas, in 1951 by Jarrell McCracken. The label's name is based on a 16-minute spoken word recording written and narrated by McCracken, the first recording released by the label, entitled the "The Game of Life". The 23-year old KWTX sportscaster in Waco had read an article by Jimmy Allen, a former athlete who became a Baptist preacher, and based his recording on the article which also is called "The Game of Life". The event is based on a full length match between the forces of Good and Evil with Jesus Christ and Satan coaching the two teams. McCracken was familiar with play-by-play broadcasting, having created virtual baseball games for radio broadcast based on wire reports. McCracken originally presented his "The Game of Life" presentation on Sunday nights at various churches around the central Texas area.

Interscope Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group that operates as one third of UMG's Interscope-Geffen-A&M label group. Interscope was founded in 1990 by Jimmy Iovine and Interscope Communications' Ted Field with financial support from Atlantic Records . Initially... it was distributed by the Atlantic Records subsidiary East West Records America. A&R Executive John McClain and producer Beau Hill were also part of the original founding team. The original focus of the label was on hip-hop and urban music, but by the mid 90's its range began to expand, to extent where its roster would be as wide ranging to include the industrial rock artist Nine Inch Nails , shock rocker Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit, Helmet, No Doubt and later the Latin artist Kings Of Flow in a unique partnership with Los Angeles based indie Latin label. Following UMG's acquisition of PolyGram in 1998, Geffen Records and A&M Records were merged into Interscope.

Myrrh Records, also known as Myrrh Worship, is a Christian music record label. According to Encyclopedia of American Gospel Music, the label was instrumental in developing a popular following for Contemporary Christian music as the label that first published music by Barry McGuire, 2nd Chapter of... Acts, Randy Matthews and Nancy Honeytree. The label is also known for serving as the first label for popular Christian crossover singer Amy Grant, who joined the label in 1977. The label has also published such artists as Malcolm and Alwyn, Petra, GLAD, David and the Giants, Billy Preston, Richie Furay, B.J. Thomas, Jaci Velasquez, Steve Archer, Mark Heard, Randy Stonehill, Sam Phillips , Crystal Lewis, Cliff Richard, The Choir, Steve Taylor, Phil Keaggy, One Bad Pig, The 77s, Salvation Air Force, Benny Hester, and Mike Warnke. The label began as Myrrh Records in 1972, but took a five year hiatus beginning in 2000 before being relaunched by parent company Word Entertainment under the name Myrrh Worship in 2005.
