The New York Yankees are a Major League Baseball team based in the borough of The Bronx, in New York City. The team's name is often shortened to "the Yanks", and their most prominantly used nickname is "the Bronx Bombers", or simply "the Bombers". The organization is sometimes referred to by... detractors as "the Bronx Zoo" and, more prominantly, "the Evil Empire", although both terms are embraced by some fans. One of the American League's eight charter franchises, the club was founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1901 as the Baltimore Orioles, moving to New York in 1903 to become the New York Highlanders. From 1923 to the present, the Yankees have played at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees have been Major League Baseball's most storied franchise, winning 26 World Series titles and 39 American League Pennants. Their 26 titles make them the most successful franchise in North American professional sports history, passing the Montreal Canadiens' 24 titles in 1999. They are also the only team represented in the National Baseball Hall of Fame at every position. Notably, they have faced every winner of the National League pennant in the World Series except for the Houston Astros, who won their first pennant in 2005. No other team has come close to matching this feat. The Yankees also have one of the longest standing and most storied rivalries in North American sports with the nearby Boston Red Sox. The Yankees-Red Sox Rivalry has centered around the supposed Curse of the Bambino, and has gained even more signficance with the creation of the Wild Card in 1995, which allowed the two teams to meet in the playoffs.

The University of Illinois at Chicago, or UIC, is a state-funded public research university located in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Its campus is in the Near West Side community area, near the Chicago Loop. As the second campus established under the University of Illinois system, it is also... the largest university in the Chicago area with approximately 28,000 students enrolled in 15 colleges. UIC operates the nation's largest medical school, with research expenditures exceeding $412 million and consistently in the top 50 U.S. institutions for research expenditures. In 2011, Academic Ranking of World Universities placed UIC in the 150–200 bracket in the world. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings placed UIC in the 167th position in the world and 49th in the U.S. The QS Qorld University rankings placed UIC in the 162nd position. In the 2012 U.S. News & World Report's ranking of colleges and universities, the University of Illinois at Chicago ranked as the 150th best national university, 79th best public university, and tied for the 11th most ethnically diverse university in the United States.

Blue Island is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 22,556 at the 2010 census. Blue Island was established in the 1830s as a way station for settlers traveling on the Vincennes Trace, and the settlement prospered because it was conveniently situated a day's journey... outside of Chicago. Since its founding, the city has been an important commercial center in the south Cook County region, although its position in that respect has been eclipsed in recent years as other significant population centers developed around it and the region's commercial resources became spread over a wider area. In addition to its broad long-standing industrial base, the city enjoyed notable growth in the 1840s during the construction of the feeder canal for the I & M canal, as the center of a large brick-making industry beginning in the 1850s , and, beginning in 1883, as host to the car shops of the Rock Island Railroad.
