Dance Dance Revolution ULTRAMIX, or DDR Ultramix, is the sixth home version of Dance Dance Revolution to be released in the United States, and the first DDR game to be released on the Microsoft Xbox video...
This package also packs in a DDR dance mat for players to get their groove on in the game.
Dance Dance Revolution: Ultramix is the first installment in the long-running series for Xbox. In case you've been out of the loop for the last decade or so, DDR works like this: a song plays in the background and arrows corresponding to buttons on the mat/platform you're standing on rise up to the top of the screen. Your job is to step on the corresponding button at just the right time, essentially dancing to the beat. It's a great formula that is as addictive as it is simple. Ultramix features around 50 songs, online play via Xbox Live, and a variety of off-line modes.
This Xbox installment would have benefited from a slightly easier set of songs to make it less difficult for new players to pick up, but, beyond this caveat, it's the most feature-rich version of Dance Dance Revolution ever.
The PS2 games have slowly been amping up the experience with minute additions over the years, but this Xbox DDR considerably kicks it up a notch, like so much Iron Chef.
The secret ingredient to the series is the simple and addictive gameplay. You're literally just pushing buttons on beat.
