Rhymesayers Entertainment is an independent hip hop record label based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was co-founded in 1995 by Sean Daley , Anthony Davis , Musab Saad and Brent Sayers. It is the largest hip-hop label in Minnesota. Rhymesayers Entertainment is mainly composed of native Minnesotans... as well as nationally recognized artists including Soul Position and MF Doom, who has released one album Mm.. Food for the label. It has a friendly relationship with the Doomtree crew as well. P.O.S of Doomtree is signed as a solo artist to the label. In 1999, the label opened its own record store called Fifth Element, located in Uptown, Minneapolis. The store is a staple of hip hop in the Twin Cities, selling independent and commercial hip hop, but also specializing in local music. On March 9, 2007, Rhymesayers Entertainment signed a promotion, marketing and distribution deal with Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group. Releases for 2007 include EP's from Atmosphere and highly acclaimed albums from Brother Ali and Mac Lethal.

Warner Music Group is the third largest business group and family of record labels in the recording industry, making it one of the big four record companies. For three decades the conglomerate was known as WEA, which stood for Warner Bros.-Elektra-Atlantic Records; three major record companies... that signed and developed musical acts and, in turn, distributed product for subsidiaries and other record labels. The current incarnation of the company as Warner Music Group was formed in 2004 when it was spun off and made completely separate from Time Warner; as a result Time Warner no longer retains any ownership whatsoever in the Warner Music Group, despite its name. WMG also has a music publishing arm called Warner/Chappell Music which is one of the world's largest music-publishing companies. In May 2011, the company announced its sale to Access Industries, Inc. Lex Records is an independent record label founded by Tom Brown in 2001. The label was an imprint of Warp Records and run from its North London offices until September 2005. Lex has a low volume of releases, rarely releasing more than three albums annually. The label is not focused on one... particular genre although most releases are hip hop, alternative rock or electronic music. Lex albums are often collaborations between members of the label roster and musicians from elsewhere. These collaborative projects include Boom Bip with Gruff Rhys, Jneiro Jarel with Khujo Goodie, and Doseone with Mike Patton & Tunde Adebimpe. Recent releases include Neon Neon's Mercury Music Prize-nominated album Stainless Style and DOOM's Born Like This, an audiobook and score of Alan Moore & Mitch Jenkins' Unearthing and Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi's album Rome featuring Jack White & Norah Jones . Forthcoming releases include the debut albums from JJ DOOM and the Nevermen. Lex packaging is striking and often elaborate. Most Lex sleeve artwork is by Ehquestionmark. Other sleeve artwork has been created by Kid Acne, James Jarvis and SSSR.
