The SKYCITY Entertainment Group purchased the hotel in 2004 for $195 million and took ownership on the 23rd, July 2004.

Parliament House is located on State Square in the centre of Darwin, which is also the administrative centre of the Northern Territory law and government. It features Post modern features. Construction of Parliament House began in 1990, and the building was completed in 1994, and officially opened by the Governor-General of Australia, Bill Hayden on 18 August 1994. Before Parliament House the former Northern Territory Legislative Council established in 1948 was housed in various temporary buildings around Darwin. After 1974 the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly continued to occupy these buildings and the Government office blocks until 1990 when they were demolished to allow commencement of the construction of Parliament House. From 1990 to the end of 1994, the Assembly temporarily met in the Chan Building.

In 2010, Been Waiting was certified double platinum by the ARIA, for shipments of 140,000 units, and became the second highest-selling Australian album of 2009.

Vasiliki Karagiorgos , known mononymously as VASSY, is a Greek-Australian R&B singer-songwriter. Vassy, whose parents are both Greek immigrants,... was discovered in 2003 after winning an Australian Unearthed radio contest and quickly began to receive recognition in Australia for her vocal talent and style, heavily influenced by Billie Holiday. Vassy won an Australian Unearthed radio contest in 2003, and went on to be signed by Warner Brothers in Australia. In late 2005, Vassy released her debut album My Affection. In 2008, she moved to the United States and signed with Ultra Records. In early 2010, Vassy released her single "History," produced by Richard Vission and Chico Bennett through Ultra Records and performed on a national club tour. She eventually cut ties with Ultra. Vassy's latest album, Beautiful Day, will be available on May 1, 2012. The record's first single, "Could This Be Love," is available as a free download on her website.
