Lili Anne Taylor is an American actress notable for her appearances in such award-winning indie films as Mystic Pizza, Say Anything, Short Cuts and... I Shot Andy Warhol, and the acclaimed TV show Six Feet Under. Taylor, the fifth of six children, was born in Glencoe, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Marie, a professional babysitter, and Park Taylor, a folk artist and hardware store operator. She grew up in a "warm family environment" and has described herself as being "a bit of a searcher" during her childhood. Taylor graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, in 1985. Thereafter, she attended The Theatre School at DePaul University and the Piven Theatre Workshop. Lili introduced Louise Post and Nina Gordon, founding members of 1990s alternative band Veruca Salt, at a party in Chicago in 1993. She is married to Nick Flynn. They have a daughter together, Maeve Flynn. Taylor has appeared in dozens of films since 1988, including Dogfight, Mystic Pizza, and Rudy. Her work has mostly been in independent films and theater.

Philip "Phil" Foglio is an American cartoonist and comic book artist best known for his humorous science fiction and fantasy work. Foglio was born... on May 1, 1956 in Mount Vernon, New York, and moved with his family to Hartsdale, New York, where he lived until he was 17. He attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago, Illinois, and was a member of the university's science fiction club, art-directing & co-editing the group's fanzine, Effen Essef. He was nominated for both the Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist and the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation in 1976, and won Best Fan Artist in 1977 and 1978. After living in the DePaul dorms for a few years, Phil moved to the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, and hosted weekly Thursday Night Meetings of Chicago-area science fiction fans. He drew the first known Unix daemons for a limited series of T-shirts in 1979. Beginning in 1980, Foglio wrote and illustrated the comic strip What's New with Phil & Dixie for Dragon Magazine from TSR Games, satirizing the world of role-playing games. The strip ran monthly for three years.

Gillian Leigh Anderson is an American actress. After beginning her career in theatre, Anderson achieved international recognition for her role as... Special Agent Dana Scully on the American television series The X-Files. Her film work includes The House of Mirth , The Mighty Celt , The Last King of Scotland , and two X-Files films, The X-Files and The X-Files: I Want to Believe . Anderson is of English and Irish descent, and was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Rosemary Anderson , a computer analyst, and Edward Anderson, who owned a film post-production company. Soon after her birth, her family moved to Puerto Rico for 15 months; she then lived for five years in Roseberry Gardens, London N4, and finally for 15 months in Albany Road, London N4, so that her father could attend the London Film School. When Anderson was 11 years old, her family moved again, this time to Grand Rapids, Michigan. She attended Fountain Elementary and then City High-Middle School, a program for gifted students with a strong emphasis on the humanities; she graduated in 1986.

Karl Malden was a Serbian American actor. In a career that spanned more than seven decades, he performed in such classic films as A Streetcar Named... Desire, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor; On the Waterfront; and One-Eyed Jacks. Among other notable film roles were Archie Lee Meighan in Baby Doll, Zebulon Prescott in How the West Was Won, and General Omar Bradley in Patton. His best-known role, though, was on television as Lt. Mike Stone on the 1970s crime drama, The Streets of San Francisco. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was also the spokesman for American Express. Malden, the eldest of three brothers, was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Gary, Indiana. His Serbian father, Petar Sekulović , worked in the steel mills and as a milkman, and his mother, Minnie Sekulovich , was a Czech seamstress and actress. The Sekulovich family roots trace back to Podosoje near the city of Bileća in Bosnia and Herzegovina, more specifically, in the Herzegovinian part.
