Detroit Beach is an unincorporated community in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a census-designated place used for statistical purposes and does not have any legal status as an incorporated municipality. The population was 2,289 at the 2000 census. The community is in Frenchtown Charter Township on the shore of Lake Erie about three miles northeast of downtown Monroe. The area defined by the CDP is bounded on the northeast by South Grove Drive, on the northwest by North Dixie Highway, and on the southwest by the Sandy Creek. The CDP of Woodland Beach is adjacent to the... northeast. Sterling State Park is adjacent to the southwest. According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 0.7 square miles , of which, 0.6 square miles of it is land and 0.04 square miles of it is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 2,289 people, 791 households, and 620 families residing in the community. The population density was 3,643.1 per square mile . There were 820 housing units at an average density of 1,305.1 per square mile . The racial makeup of the community was 98.
