Doom 3

The Doomguy is the protagonist of the Doom series of video games created by id Software, and its sequels and spin-off media. In all the games, he is... a UN marine, wearing green combat armor, working with the Union Aerospace Corporation. He never speaks . In the games, he is never referred to by name. The game's designer, John Romero, said this was to increase player immersion: "There was never a name for the DOOM marine because it's supposed to be YOU." In the Doom novels, the main character is referred to as Flynn "Fly" Taggart. However, Tom Hall's original design draft, also known as The Doom Bible, suggested his name was Buddy Dacote . In the Wolfenstein RPG, it is implied that Doomguy is the descendant of William "B.J." Blazkowicz.

Tim Willits is the creative director and former co-owner of video game developer id Software. Willits is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and a former member of the University of Minnesota Army ROTC program. Willits was the battalion cadet-command sergeant major during his junior year and attended ROTC Advanced Camp at Fort Lewis, Washington during the summer between his junior and senior years of college. After an injury during the... summer, Willits completed two rotations, being assigned to both the first and seventh cadet regiments during that summer. He held the rank of cadet-major during his senior year and was assigned as the battalion training officer. Tim Willits joined id Software in 1995 after impressing the owners and development team with DOOM levels he forged in his spare time and distributed free over the Internet. Willits has worked on Strife, The Ultimate Doom, Quake, Quake II, Quake III Arena, Quake III: Team Arena and Doom 3. Willits was lead designer on Doom 3, executive producer on Quake 4, and - most recently - creative director on Rage, developed with the id tech 5 engine. He was referenced in the Doom movie as Dr. Willits.
