Yūji Horii is a Japanese video game designer and scenario writer best known as the creator of the seminal Dragon Quest series of console role-playing games, as well as the first visual novel adventure game Portopia Serial Murder Case. Horii graduated from Waseda University's Department of Literature. He also worked as a freelance writer for newspapers, comics, and magazines, including a video games column in Weekly Shōnen Jump. He... then entered in an Enix-sponsored game programming contest, where he placed with Love Match Tennis, a tennis video game, motivating him to become a video game designer. Horii then created the first visual novel game, Portopia Serial Murder Case, a game that later inspired Hideo Kojima to enter the video game industry. After creating several more visual novel adventure games, Horii went on to create Dragon Quest, which is recognized as the first role-playing game to posit the idea of spendable magic points for the resolution of spells and actions. Koichi Sugiyama is a Japanese music composer, council member of JASRAC , and honorary chairman of the Japanese Backgammon Society. He is best known for composing music for the Dragon Quest video game series, which is published by Square Enix, and several Japanese anime and TV shows, such as Space Runaway Ideon, Cyborg 009, and Gatchaman. A classically trained conductor, he is considered a primary inspiration for other game music composers such... as Nobuo Uematsu, and has been referred to as a "Big boss of game music." He is also known for being a Japanese revisionist. Koichi Sugiyama was born in Tokyo, Japan. While growing up, Sugiyama's home was filled with music, which ultimately inspired his passion. In high school, he began to recognize his passion, and wrote various small musical works. After graduating from the University of Tokyo with full honours in 1958, he went into the reporting and entertainment sections of cultural broadcasting. In addition, he joined the Fuji Telecasting Co. as a director.

Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. Its headquarters are located in the... Shinjuku Bunka Quint Building in Yoyogi, Shibuya, Tokyo. The original Square Enix was formed as the result of a merger between Square and Enix. The merger occurred on April 1, 2003, with Square stockholders receiving 0.85 shares of stock in the new company compared to Enix stockholders receiving a one-to-one trade. Enix was the surviving company of the merger. At the time, 80% of Square Enix staff were made up of former Square Co. employees. As part of the merger, many of the top officials within Square Co. assumed the leadership roles in the new corporate hierarchy, including president Yoichi Wada, who was appointed president of the corporation. The original founder of Enix, Yasuhiro Fukushima, is currently the honorary chairman and largest shareholder of the corporation.
