Reed Eliot Slatkin was an initial investor and co-founder of EarthLink and the perpetrator of one of the largest Ponzi schemes in the United States since that conducted by Charles Ponzi himself. Slatkin was an ordained Scientology minister since 1975. Around 1984 he changed from being a full-time... minister to becoming a self-employed investor, and many of his investment clients and victims were also Scientologists. In May 2001, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission shut down Slatkin's scheme by filing an enforcement action and obtaining a temporary restraining order freezing his remaining assets. On the same day as the SEC action, the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed search warrants relating to Slatkin. Since 1986 Slatkin had raised approximately $593 million from about 800 wealthy investors. Using the funds from later investors, he paid one group of early investors $279M on their original $128M investment, citing investment success without actually making most of the claimed investments. He also distributed millions in fees to associates as "consultants".

Bill Harris has held numerous positions in the media, finance and technology industries.  In 1999 and 2000, Bill was CEO of PayPal, an online... payment service that he helped launch which was later acquired by eBay.  Currently, Bill serves on the boards of Macromedia, eOne Global, Yodlee, XTec, and MyVest. Bill received a bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College in 1979, and graduated from Harvard Business School in 1981. He lives in Woodside, Calif. with his wife and two young children.

Linwood A. Lacy, Jr. has served as one of our directors since September 2002. From July 1998 to July 2001, Mr. Lacy served as chairman of 4Sure.com,... a direct marketer of computer and technology products. From October 1996 to October 1997, Mr. Lacy served as president and chief executive officer of Micro Warehouse Incorporated, a micro computer direct-marketing company. From 1985 to May 1996, he served as the co-chairman and chief executive officer of Ingram Micro, Inc., a microcomputer products distributor and a then wholly-owned subsidiary of Ingram Industries Inc. From April 1996 to May 1996, Mr. Lacy served as vice chairman of Ingram Industries Inc.; from June 1995 to April 1996, he served as its president and chief executive officer; and from December 1993 to June 1995, he served as its president. Mr. Lacy is a director of EarthLink, Inc., a public company, as well as a director of several private companies, including Ingram Industries Inc. Mr. Lacy received both a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and an M.B.A from the University of Virginia.
